The paper investigates the applicability of fuzzy sets theory for facilitation solving problems of land-use planning and management. Basic principles of application of statistical-fuzzy classification are proposed. They are illustrated by an empirical example for municipality of Kiwity. The proposed fuzzy mapping of degrees to primary fields and the way of extraction of appropriate terrain use can be generalized to other land use and for analysis of primary fields of various size. The fuzzy sets theory can provide a basis for creating a knowledge base for space use and planning. This knowledge base consists of tabular forms of evaluation degrees of primary fields, maps sketches or grids of primary fields presenting the values of the fields under consideration.
