Health and safety management in the era of building Society 5.0

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to make a detailed characterization of the cybernetic system of man-machine-environment in the context of maintaining occupational health and safety. Design/methodology/approach: Data for the study was collected using participant observation. Subsequently, any information obtained is presented in this paper as a case study. Findings: The results of the study indicate that occupational health and safety management in the era of building society 5.0 is highly dependent on the proper cooperation of man and machine in a turbulent work environment. Research limitations/implications: The survey is limited to employees of one manufacturing company. Therefore, it would be extremely valuable to observe whether work safety in other companies also depends primarily on the proper preparation of workers to work with machinery. Practical implications: The study provides guidance for human resource management to implement effective practices to enhance employee safety in the era of building society 5.0. Social implications: This study offers support to the employees of a manufacturing company, providing insight into how the work environment can be improved, thereby increasing health and safety. Originality/value: This is a study that aims to provide insight into how, in the era of building a 5.0 society, it is important to take care to prepare the employee to be a designer of a safe work environment in which people and machines work together to achieve the best work result.

Organisation's communication activity and the level of process maturity – an empirical approach

Purpose: The authors aimed to identify the characteristics of a process organisation, and to determine the organisation's activity in various areas, including communication. Design/methodology/approach: The research methods used in the article was an online survey. Findings: The conducted research is the first step in assessing the relations that occur between the level of process maturity of an organisation and the level of communication activity. In the surveyed organisations there is a high awareness of the need and importance of processes. Research limitations/implications: The study of corporate image and the study of reputation and prestige in the area of internal communication activity. A group of about 64% of organisations declared such activity, although to varying degrees. About 33% of respondents declared these activities as strategic. It should be assumed that they are the result of image activities, activities focused on reputation and prestige. It can be assumed that these are activities of public relations or corporate communication. Admittedly, further research reveals the lack of certain processes, which are important and determine the strategic character of these activities (e.g., lack of CSR, lack of employer branding). Practical implications: Achieving more and more process maturity through process improvement should be treated as a cyclical activity, which is oriented towards the continuous search for better solutions. Organisations that intend to improve their processes, and thus gain greater process maturity, should continually take care to shape open communication, both within the company and in the external environment. Originality/value: Strategic achievement of an integrated state of internal and external communication is based on constructive dialogue and is determined by the number of different processes, the level of communication and the level of their process maturity.

Postępujący proces starzenia się społeczeństwa jest rozpatrywany głównie w kategoriach problemu demograficznego, który wywiera niekorzystny wpływ na politykę ludnościową, a także generuje koszty związane z zagwarantowaniem właściwego systemu opieki nad osobami starszymi. Jest to niezwykle istotne zagadnienie, dlatego w ostatnich latach w Polsce toczy się publiczna debata na temat modyfikacji systemu emerytalnego. Problem pracowników w starszym wieku będzie się stawał coraz bardziej powszechny, dlatego podjęto tematykę dotyczącą ergonomicznego przygotowania stanowiska pracy, co pozwoli na poprawę komfortu pracy, a także może się przyczynić do uzyskania większej wydajności pracy. W artykule przedstawiono istotę ergonomii w środowisku pracy. Wskazano również, jak wraz z wiekiem zmieniają się predyspozycje pracowników oraz ich właściwości psychofizyczne. W ramach części empirycznej zaproponowano pewnego rodzaju zalecenia ergonomiczne, które poprawiły komfort pracy osób starszych w zakładzie pracy, w którym przeprowadzono eksperyment naukowy.

The progression of aging of a society is considered mainly in the categories of a demographic problem, which has a negative impact on population policy, and also generates costs related to guaranteeing an appropriate care system for the elderly. This is an extremely important issue, which is discussed in Poland as a public debate on the modification of the pension system. Problems of older workers will become more and more common, therefore the article focuses on the subject of ergonomic preparation of the workplace, which will improve work comfort and may also contribute to higher work efficiency. The article presents the essence of ergonomics in the work environment. It also indicates how the predispositions of employees and their mental and physical characteristics change with age. In the empirical part of the paper, some ergonomic recommendations were proposed, which improved the working comfort of older people in the workplace in which the scientific experiment was carried out.
