The authors point in this article an essential fact that the shipyard restructuring success has been dominated by the necessity of survival and in some fistant time development of the internal co-operation and subcontracting market. Nevertheless it is necessary to say with some disappointment that this thesis has been so far regarded quite reluctantly by the shipyard reshaping project architects. As a matter of fact shipyard industry in Poland can survive and develop when Polish shipyards are delivered machinery, equipment and services from home suppliers only. Otherwise, the plans for consolidation will never be implemented and further misunderstanding in this case may lead to possible shipyard industry disappearance in Poland.
