Flue gas cooling in an industrial desulfurization installation was simulated using Chemcad (Chemstations Inc.). Results of calculations together with measured industrial data were used for evaluation of sensible heat transfer coefficients in direct heat exchange between gas and liquid in a packed column. Long-term performance of outer plate and frame compact heat exchangers was also reported.
