The article presents main design assumptions made in the development of Java library project for competence data manipulation. In the context of the proposed solution the concept of competence is defined as a representation of skills and knowledge useful to solve di ff erent tasks and problems. Thus, competence interpreted in this way can be regarded as a performance measure of human resources in di ff erent professional situations. The use of existing quantitative competence models creates background for development of software systems for human resource management support. In this article, the authors presents their approach to implement qualitative competence models in form of software library, which allows development of software tools dedicated to human resource management.

The ability to create and manage knowledge is commonly recognized as one the most important quality of the modern and innovative organization. The management of knowledge and skills, as well as the management of company competencies has turned out to be essential factors influencing performance of industrial processes. In the paper, the authors present the method and tools for competence modelling for enterprise knowledge management. Modelling competences as quantitative measures of knowledge workers performance provides a framework for effective human resource management within the knowledge based organisation. The authors explore possibilities of integrating existing competence description standards with mathematical methods of competence analysis into one common software framework. The product of this idea is the concept of reusable Competence Object Library.

The article presents conception of supporting activities for printing and publishing sector in Westpomeranian Region carried out by Science and Technology Park of Szczecin in 2005-2007. Analysis that STPS have done during that time shows that local companies encounter problems with entering new external markets and broadening their scopes of services. STPS prepared a program consisting of series of actions towards these companies helping them to overcome blocking factors of their development. These actions are centered around a web-portal (www.e-drukuj.pl), which is a main communication channel for companies participating in the program. The e-drukuj.pl web-portal with its innovative services provides many opportunities to local SMEs to find new customers, enter new markets or even to develop new business models making them more innovative and competitive.

Opisano wdrożone w PKN Orlen w Wytwórni Fenolu i Acetonu dwa przedsięwzięcia modernizacyjne jakimi były utylizacja frakcji węglowodorowej oraz modernizacja instalacji oczyszczania ścieków. Frakcja węglowodorowa, będąca produktem ubocznym poddana została uwodornieniu zawartego w niej a-metylostyrenu do kumenu. Opisano warunki dwustopniowego oczyszczania frakcji węglowodorowej przed poddaniem jej uwodornieniu na katalizatorze niklowym: usunięcie fenolu poprzez ekstrakcję ługiem sodowym na kontaktorach membranowych i destylacyjne oddzielenie zanieczyszczeń wrzących w temperaturze niższej niż kumen i wyższej niż a-metylostyren. Dzięki temu surowiec podawany na katalizator uwodornienia ma nie więcej niż 1-2% zanieczyszczeń i uzyskiwany jest z wydajnością dochodzącą do 90%. Proces uwodornienia daje produkt zawierający 96,5-97,5% kumenu, który nadaje się do użycia jako surowiec do produkcji wodoronadtlenku kumenu bez dodatkowego oczyszczania. Opisana modernizacja wydziałowej instalacji oczyszczania ścieków polegała na wprowadzeniu dwóch układów destylacyjnych, służących do wydobywania acetonu ze ścieków oraz z regeneratu otrzymywanego w czasie regeneracji złóż sorbentu, a także na przeorganizowaniu operacji regeneracji złóż sorbentu. Modernizacja umożliwiła stabilne usuwanie ze ścieków po ok. 90% zawartych w nich acetonu i fenolu. Opisano warunki pracy węzła destylacji acetonu ze ścieków oraz węzła destylacji acetonu z regeneratu. Omówiono zmiany przebiegu operacji regeneracji sorbentu, które usunęły problemy związane z wytrącaniem się siarczanu sodowego w adsorberze w wyniku kontaktu ścieków z acetonem oraz zagwarantowały uzyskiwanie ścieków oczyszczonych o małej zawartości acetonu, bez zwiększania ogólnej masy ścieków wyprowadzanych z Wytwórni Fenolu i Acetonu.

The by-product hydrocarbon fraction was extd. with NaOH in membrane contactors to remove PhOH, distd. to remove compds. b. below cumene and above a-methylstyrene to yield a 1-2% impure feed in 90% yield to be hydrogenated over a Ni catalyst to convert a-methylstyrene and thus to prep. a 96.5-97.5% cumene to make cumene hydroperoxide that did not need to be purified. At the wastewater treatment stage, two distillation steps were introduced to recover nearly 90% acetone and PhOH from wastewaters and from the reclaim collected at the sorbent bed regeneration step. This step was modified to eliminate the pptn. of Na2SO4 and to minimize the total vol. of the wastewaters leaving the Plant.
