Incremental techniques (FDM) were used to create prototype of flexible clutch coupling and oil centrifuge scroll. We carried out preliminary research of stretching, compressing and hardness material in different degree of filling. The results of our research allows to select materials which are necessary to create flexible clutch coupling and oil centrifuge scroll.

Techniką przyrostową (FDM) wykonano prototyp wkładki elastycznej sprzęgła podatnego, ślimacznicy oraz wirówki oleju. Przeprowadzono wstępne badania wytrzymałości na rozciąganie i ściskanie oraz twardości materiału przy różnym stopniu wypełnienia. Wyniki badań pozwoliły na dobór materiału o określonym stopniu wypełnienia, do wykonania prototypów wkładek sprzęgła i ślimacznicy.

Two alloys were used in order to extend the service life of marine engine exhaust valve head. Layers of cobalt base alloys were made of the powders with chemical composition as follow: the layer marked L12; C-1.55%; Si-1.21%; Cr-29.7%; W-9%; Ni-2%; Mo<0.01%; Fe-1.7%; Co-54.83% and the layer marked N; C-1.45%; Co-38.9%; Cr24.13%; Ni-10.43%; W-8.75%; Fe-7.64%; Mo-7.56%; Si-2.59%. Base metal was valve steel after heat treatment. It was consisted of: C-0,374%; Cr-9,34%; Mn-0.402%; Ni-0.344%; Si-2.46%; Mo-0.822%; P-0.0162%; S-0.001%. Layers on the valve faces were produced by laser cladding using the HPDL ROFIN DL020 laser. Grinding treatment is a very popular form of regeneration of seat and valve plug adhesions. Properly performed grinding operation ensures dimensional and shape accuracy of the surface from 7 to 5 accuracy class and surface roughness Ra not less than 0.16 μm, depending on the object and method of grinding. The 75H and 150S types are a significantly simplified form of valve plug face grinders. Finishing treatment was carried out with a Chris-Marine AB75H sander on a sanding stand equipped with a compressed air system - the stand was designed by the author. The sander has been set up to the surface of the valve stem so that the grinding angle of the valve faces is 30°+10°. A flat grinding wheel T1CRA54–K was used for machining. The plunge feed was 0.01 mm/rev. The thickness of the welded layer after grinding was 1.2 mm. Both valves were installed in the ship’s engine and were used in real life. After 2000 hours of operation, the valve marked N was damaged. The valve marked L12 showed no damage and was in operation for the next 1000 hours.

Petroleum substances are a mixture of many hydrocarbons of various structures; some of them are toxic for marine organisms. In case of pollution of the aquatic environment, these compounds may enter seawater organisms and adversely affect gas exchange and inhibit photosynthesis. Therefore, it is important to take measures to reduce the emissions of these compounds into the aquatic environment and quickly to remove possible spills of uncontrolled pollution. Sorbents are materials that soak up oil from water. They are best suited for the absorption of oil – derived substances. They are used to absorb leaks in open and closed tanks, particularly in hard – to-reach places. Sorbents can be natural organic, natural inorganic or synthetic. Natural sorbents are divided to organic materials such as peat moss or wood products, and inorganic materials such as vermiculite or clay. Sorbents are available in a loose form, which includes granules, powder, chunks and cubes. Synthetic sorbents are used to wipe other oil spill recovery equipment such as skimmers and booms after a spill clean-up operation. The thesis deals with the issues related to the analysis of the possibility of using sorbents to combat oil pollution in port and coastal areas. The article discusses the types of pollution occurring in coastal waters, as well as the types of sorbents used and the forces and measures to combat pollution. The characteristic features of sorbents are rate of absorption and adsorption, oil retention and ease of application. Absorption tests were carried out and the best sorbents for combating oil pollution were selected.

The advantage of incremental techniques is the reduction of material losses as opposed to loss techniques, i.e. machining. The element of flexible insert of the flexible coupling was made with the use of the incremental technique using the FDM method made of ABS plastic and the exploitation tests of the performed insert were performed in the device simulating the operation of the thruster on the ship. The use of materials obtained from the recycling of plastic waste is of great importance for printing.

Zaletą technik przyrostowych jest zmniejszenie strat materiałowych w odróżnieniu do technik ubytkowych tj. obróbki skrawaniem. Techniką przyrostową wykonano element wkładki elastycznej sprzęgła podatnego za pomocą metody FDM z tworzywa ABS i przeprowadzono badania eksploatacyjne wykonanej wkładki w urządzeniu symulującym działanie steru strumieniowego na statku. Duże znaczenie ma wykorzystanie do druku materiałów uzyskanych z recyklingu odpadów z tworzyw sztucznych.
