The aim of the article is to present the concept and mechanism of Sales and Product configurator taking under consideration both benefits connected with its application and client and company's perspectives. The first part presents the main concepts of mass customization. The configurator as a tool supporting the application of the paradigm of mass individualization, presentation of a concept model as well as a discussion about how the configurator works are presented in the second part of this paper. The final part presents the examples of implemented solutions.

For a few years the transport - spedition - logistics (TSL) market has been expanding. Bigger competition and dominance of outsourcing policies forced TSL companies to join the struggle for the client. In this struggle the price became a key instrument. Competitive advantage can be gained only by using the correct strategy of action. In the opinion of the author, the building of competitive advantage can be helped by the strategy of mass customization

The article presents Polish market of TSL services and its influence on development of country's economy. The state of TSL sector has gone through statistical analyze since Poland's admission to the European Union. Furthermore current state of sector has been identified and the perspectives of development of TSL services basing on available statistical data have been discussed.

The aim of the following article is to systematize the concepts connected with modern genetic algorithms together with presenting examples of their applications in logistic issues. Using appropriate tools for solving logistic problems is a basic condition of development and/or endurance on the market with an intensive competition. According to the author, modern genetic algorithms are effective optimizing, ransacking and teaching tools which may have a broader use in logistics. This paper also discusses the matter of genetic algorithm's parameters as a factor determining the effectiveness of their application in logistic issues. The weak and strong points of genetic algorithms in the context of their practical usage has also been pointed out. Presented article is based on literature studies concerning modern concepts of genetic algorithms and their applications.

W artykule przedstawiono wykorzystanie drzew decyzyjnych do wspomagania procesu podejmowania decyzji. Opisano rolę tych narzędzi w klasyfikacji i predykcji. Omówiono metodykę tworzenia drzew klasyfikacyjnych i ich implementację w pakiecie STATISTICA PL wersja 6.0. Zaprezentowano również przykład wykorzystania drzew klasyfikacyjnych do określenia reguł decyzyjnych.

The article presents the application of decision trees to support the decision-making process. The role of these tools in classification and prediction is described. It discusses the methodology of creating and implementing classification trees in STATISTICA PL version 6.0. In article the example of application of classification trees to define decision rules is presented.
