Metodyka BIM w GK PSE to nie tylko trójwymiarowa wizualizacja, z którą BIM jest bardzo często, lecz niepoprawnie kojarzony, ale – metoda całościowego zarządzania danymi o elementach infrastruktury w całym cyklu inwestycyjnym w dedykowanym systemie. Właściwie skonstruowane i odpowiednio zarządzane środowisko CDE to źródła informacji pozwalające optymalizować działania na rzecz utrzymania, modernizacji i rozbudowy infrastruktury, zarówno w czasie, jak i w przestrzeni. W rezultacie BIM pozwala zwiększyć efektywność wykorzystania środków publicznych poprzez minimalizację kosztów budowy i zarządzania infrastrukturą. Jest jednocześnie metodyką mającą potencjał zastosowania przez GK PSE w ramach przetargów publicznych na realizację inwestycji infrastrukturalnych i eksploatacji infrastruktury.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been developed for decades in the construction sector to optimize CAPEX and OPEX costs of individual buildings throughout their full life-cycle, including their design, construction, maintenance and decommissioning. Advantages of BIM as a tool to store, update and manage data on individual building components' structure, maintenance needs, inspection schedules, results of inspections and their proven efficacy in collision detection at the design phase and costs reduction at the construction, maintenance and decommissioning phases have inspired broader BIM implementation extended from individual buildings to linear infrastructure. Since energy transmission lines owned and operated by the Polish Transmission System Operator (TSO) Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A. are a perfect example of complex, vast infrastructure requiring regular maintenance works, a pilot implementation of BIM has recently been launched. The article enumerates potential benefits of BIM implementation by the TSO and preliminary results to be basis for future decision on its broader use in PSE for the sake of further costs and time optimization of transmission system management in Poland.
