A systemic model of furniture meant for stimulating development of a child based on educational aids from M. Montessori

In furniture design, understood as a kind of evolutionary process, there is room for designer’s creativity, but not in the sense traditionally accepted in the psychology of creation. The creativity of the designer shapes the products of the evolutionary algorithm but does not replace them. This can be illustrated by the genesis of any design, such as furniture that stimulates the development of the child. The Montessori pedagogy leaves a lot of room for new designs of Montessorian teaching aids. The Montessori didactic material forms a logically structured whole. It enables the child to move out of experience and sensual cognition; it serves not only the development of the intellect but also the education of the whole personality. The Montessorian materials take into account the child’s stage of development, corresponding to a given sensitive phase and the very logic of things, so that the child, while learning, can embrace larger cognitive sequences, arouse a sense of aesthetics, motivation, curiosity and interest, thus triggering various forms of activity.

Systemowy model projektowania mebli stymulujących rozwój dziecka w oparciu o pomoce dydaktyczne M. Montessori. W projektowaniu mebli rozumianym, jako rodzaj ewolucyjnego procesu, jest miejsce na kreatywność projektanta, ale nie w znaczeniu tradycyjnie przyjmowanym w psychologii twórczości. Kreatywność projektanta kształtuje wytwory ewolucyjnego algorytmu, ale ich nie zastępuje. Ilustracją może być geneza dowolnego projektu mebli stymulującego rozwój dziecka. Pedagogika Montessori pozostawia szerokie miejsce dla nowych projektów zestawów dydaktycznych pomocy montessoriańskich. Materiał dydaktyczny Montessori tworzy logicznie uporządkowaną całość programową. Umożliwia w uczeniu dziecka przechodzenie od doświadczenia i poznania zmysłowego, rozwoju intelektu, ale przede wszystkim do kształtowania całej jego osobowości. Materiały montessoriańskie uwzględniają stopień, odpowiadający danej wrażliwej fazie rozwoju dziecka. Dzięki temu dziecko ucząc się może przyswoić sobie większe sekwencje poznawcze, modelować odczucia estetyczne, motywację, ciekawość oraz zainteresowania, wyzwalające różne formy aktywności.

Initial studies on the influence of Aspergillus niger on the wood components of Populus sp.

Initial studies on the influence of Aspergillus niger on the wood components of Populus sp. An attempt was made to determine the content of structural substances (cellulose, holocellulose, lignin) and non-structural substances in poplar wood (Populus sp.) infected with the mentioned fungus. For this purpose, wood chips were infected with spore suspension and then incubated under sterile and suitable growth conditions. After 7, 14 and 21 days the degree of poplar wood degradation was assessed by determining the substances contained in the wood by performing chemical analyses: Kürschner-Hoffer cellulose, holocellulose by the sodium chlorite method, lignin in accordance with PN-92/P50092 standard and non-structural components. The conducted analyses made it possible to determine the effect of Aspergillus niger’s presence time on the degree of degradation of individual wood components.

Wstępne badania wpływu Aspergillus niger na zawartość składników drewna Polupus sp. W pracy podjęto próbę oznaczenia zawartości substancji strukturalnych (celulozy, holocelulozy, ligniny) oraz substancji niestrukturalnych na drewnie topoli (Populus sp.), zainfekowanym wspomnianym grzybem pleśniowym. W tym celu porażono wióry przy pomocy suspensji zarodnikowej, a następnie w sterylnych i odpowiednich warunkach wzrostowych całość inkubowano. Po 7, 14, 21 dniach określano stopień degradacji drewna topoli przez wyznaczanie substancji zawartych w drewnie, wykonując analizy chemiczne: celulozę Kürschnera-Hoffera, holocelulozę metodą chlorynu sodowego, ligninę według normy PN-92/P50092 oraz składniki niestrukturalne. Przeprowadzone analizy pozwoliły określić wpływ czasu porażenia przez Aspergillus niger na stopień degradacji poszczególnych składników drewna.

Preliminary laboratory tests of a new fibre optic high temperature measurement device

This article presents the laboratory verification of the author’s algorithm for temperature determination. The conducted tests confirm the ability to eliminate the measurement condition impact (emissivity of the radiation source, attenuation of the atmosphere) on non-contact thermometric measurement results. What is more, this method allows measurement for wavelength shorter than 1 µm to be carried out. The second stage of the work involved transmission tests of the fibre optic probe. The use of three quartz rods ensured that thermal radiation from each direction in a perpendicular plane to the probe head is collected and transmitted. The combination of the new temperature determination method and new constructed measurement instrument will allow the area of application of a non-contact thermometric device to be extended.
