Foot model for tracking temperature of safety boot insoles: application to different insole materials in firefighter boots

This research is based on the development of a human foot model to study the temperature conditions of a foot bottom surface under extreme external conditions. This foot model is made by combining different manufacturing techniques to enable the simulation of bones and tissues, allowing the placement of sensors on its surface to track the temperature values of different points inside a shoe. These sensors let researchers capture valuable data during a defined period of time, making it possible to compare the features of different safety boots, socks or soles, among others. In this case, it has been applied to compare different plantar insole materials, placed into safety boots on a high-temperature surface.

W artykule przedstawiono skalę kosztów ponoszonych, w latach 2009-2013, przez polskie zakłady górnicze na profilaktykę zagrożenia pożarami oraz jej wpływ na koszt wydobycia węgla. Analizę przeprowadzono dla wybranych kopalń Górnośląskiego Zagłębia Węglowego o różnym stanie zagrożenia pożarami. Wykorzystano dane z bazy Centralnego Ośrodka Informatyki Górnictwa SA oraz wartości nakładów rzeczywistych pozyskanych bezpośrednio z kopalń. Oceny dokonano, wykorzystując własną metodykę podziału kosztów w układzie rodzajowym oraz w zakresie działań ponoszonych na zapobieganie i zwalczanie pożarów. Wpływ kosztów profilaktyki na całkowity koszt wydobycia węgla wyznaczono za pomocą jednostkowego wskaźnika kosztów (zł/t).

The article presents the scale of costs incurred in 2009-2013 by the Polish mines for the prevention of fire hazard and its impact on the coal production cost. The analysis was conducted for selected mines of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin of various state of fire hazard. The data from database of the Main Mining Information Technology Center/COIG SA/ were and the actual value of the expenditure obtained directly from the mines. The assessment was made using its own methodology of costs by their nature and type and with regard to activities associated with preventing and combating of fires. The impact of fire hazard prevention costs on the total cost of coal extraction was determined with the use of the unit cost index (zł/t).

Przedstawiono metodę oceny zagrożenia pożarami endogenicznymi pól eksploatacyjnych. W metodzie tej wyznacza się ilość spalonego węgla, objętości ciepła wydzielonego w procesie utleniania. W oparciu o przebiegi czasowe wymienionych wielkości wnioskuje się o stanie zagrożenia pożarowego w analizowanym rejonie.

Method of spontaneous fire hazards evaluation of mine panels, particulary of evolution of developing fire foceses was presented in the paper. Within the method we establish the amount oof combusted coal and the valume of the heat stream emitted during the oxidation process. On the basis of the time courses of those values we can conclude about the hazards in the given region.
