The paper provides an analysis of windows in antique Świdermajers’ style wooden buildings, located in Otwock. It has been discovered that many of them have been already replaced with new ones. Attention was paid to the traditional Polish casement window structure with transom and the main part below, additionally divided into smaller areas by wooden horizontal or vertical muntins. Analysis of traditional window carpentry elements such as shutters, window sills, cornices and batten frames was made together with their classification based on different kinds of decorative motifs.

Tradycyjne zdobnictwo okien budynków w stylu świdermajer w miejscowości Otwock. W artykule dokonano analizy okien w zabytkowych budynkach drewnianych utrzymanych w stylu świdermajer, położonych w miejscowości Otwock. Ujawniono, iż wiele z nich zostało już wymienionych na nowe. Zwrócono uwagę na ościeżnicową konstrukcje okien zabytkowych oraz podział pola otworu okiennego na podślemię i nadślemię, dodatkowo rozczłonkowane krzyżowymi lub pionowymi szczeblinami. Przeanalizowane zostały tradycyjne elementy zdobnicze stolarki okiennej takie jak: nadokienniki, podokienniki, ramy okienne i okiennice oraz ich klasyfikacja ze względu na występujące motywy.

The present thesis describes an analysis of the XVII-century and XVIII-century techniques and technologies of hardware, and also the methods of decoration of iron fittings. The examined characteristics of the fittings are shown both similarities and differences in methods of production an decoration of fittings and the method of ornamenting them can by employed as a touchstone in identification of fittings from the 17th and 18th centuries.

W artykule przedstawione zostały wybrane motywy dekoracyjne występujące na wczesnonowożytnych kaflach piecowych z terenu Krakowa. Opisane zostały poszczególne przedstawienia i zestawione z analogicznymi dekoracjami na kaflach z innych stanowisk z Krakowa, Królestwa Polskiego, Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego oraz Królestwa Czeskiego i Węgierskiego. Analiza ikonograficzna wskazała na powszechność i popularność omawianych motywów na określonych obszarach, jak również pozwoliła na określenie pewnych trendów panujących w zdobnictwie pieców w ówczesnym czasie w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej. Wyniki pozwoliły wskazać na Kraków, a zwłaszcza dwór królewski, jako na centrum czerpiące z południowych i zachodnich wzorców dekoracyjnych oraz samokształtujące je na innych terenach Królestwa Polskiego i Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego. Elementy strojów renesansowych umożliwiły poszerzenie wiedzy o modzie i sposobie ubierania się w omawianym okresie.

This article demonstrates selected decorative motifs found on early modern stove tiles from the area of Krakow. In the present paper the different presentation were described and summarized with similar decorations on the tiles with other posts from Krakow, the Polish Kingdom, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Bohemia and Hungary. Iconographic analysis of the relief decoration of tiles indicated the prevalence and popularity of these motifs in certain areas, as well as helped to establish certain trends in the decoration furnaces at that time in Central and Eastern Europe. The results shows that Krakow and especially the royal court was a center drawing on the southern and western decorative patterns and shaped them into areas of the Polish Kingdom and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Renaissance costumes elements allowed increased knowledge about fashion and way of dressing in the same period.

Artykuł porusza zagadnienie nieco zapomnianej dziś Spółdzielni Przemysłu Ludowego i Artystycznego „Kwiatogal”. Ta, powstała w 1950 r. w Warszawie placówka początkowo specjalizowała się w produkcji sztucznych kwiatów, zaś w 1951 r. uruchomiła malarnię porcelany. Właśnie ten dział jej wytwórczości – ręczne dekorowanie porcelany, stanowi główny temat artykułu. Autorka omawia w nim stylistykę powstających w Kwiatogalu naczyń, proces zatwierdzania wzorów do produkcji oraz trudności, na jakie natrafiały malarki w czasie pracy nad dekorowaniem serwisów. Podejmuje też próbę charakterystyki wzorów powstałych w malarni Kwiatogalu, najwyżej oceniając dekoracje geometryczne i figuralne wpisujące się w ogólnoświatowy nurt we wzornictwie zwany „New Look”. Przywołuje również nazwiska artystów ceramików: Danuty Duszniak i Stanisława Tworzydło sprawujących nadzór artystyczny nad produkcją Spółdzielni.

The article covers the topic of a fairly forgotten Folk and Artistic Industry Cooperative "Kwiatogal". The cooperative was established in 1950 in Warsaw and initially it specialized in artificial flowers production. In 1951 it opened porcelain paint shop and this part of its activity – hand painted porcelain – is the main subject of this article. The author explains the style of the Kwiatogal's pieces of porcelain, the approval process for new designs and the difficulties the painters faced at decorating porcelain sets. The author also tries to characterize the designs created at Kwiatogal's paint shop giving the highest value to geometric and figurative designs falling into the global design trend called "New Look". She also mentions the names of ceramic artists: Danuta Duszniak and Stanisław Tworzydło exercising artistic supervision over the cooperative's production.

Dekoracje drewnianej architektury wiejskich terenów pogranicza polsko-białoruskiego stanowią unikat na skalę kraju, a nawet Europy. Snycerskie formy zdobiące m.in. okna, okiennice, szczyty, naroża, prócz efektu wizualnego, są zarazem źródtem informacji o kulturze pogranicza. W ich symbolice zawarty jest bowiem światopogląd tamtejszych prawosławnych społeczności, oparty na czynniku religijnym, a nawet magicznym. Szczególnie silnie nacechowana transcendentnymi znaczeniami jest strefa okienna.

The ornamentation of rural wooden architecture of the border Polish - Belarusian are unique in the country and even Europe. Carving forms adorning windows, shutters, gables, corners, except the visual effect are the source of information about the culture of the borderland. In its symbolism, is included the outlook of local Orthodox community, based on the religious and even magic factors. Particularly strongly marked by transcendent meanings is the window zone.

In presentation of ceramic triad colours' elaboration for decoration of ceramic tiles there. Are discussed range and methods of carried out tests. Ornament in architecture is an essential element, although its role is secondary and complementary. Making decorations is a last step in creation of a good form. Ornamentation may counteract monotony, emphasise elements which are important, provide the form with an optic balance and put in order the whole of the composition. It can also act as a background. Ornamentation unifies different arts by repeating similar motives - for example in materials and coulors of the architecture and its background. The colour of ornaments activates the surface of every form and reveals its depth, without using shadows. It helps in articulation of different planes and shapes in space. Suggestive effect of ornamentation is built on comprehension of the essence of the material, in which they are created, its structure, character and colour. Ornamentation has always helped to read the relation of forms to specific time, culture and to recognise the style and fashion. Ornaments toogether with the other means of expression, constitutes a kind os historical continuity, so that it is an important source of inspiration in creation of architecture.
