A scope of the-paper was to simulate numerically gas flow in the impinging stream emulsifier. The analysis of pressure and velocity fields allowed one to determine an influence of the distance between atomizers on the droplet size in emulsions.

Results of the investigation on the effect of distance L between atomizers on mean droplet diameter in the inner phase of emulsions obtained by the impinging jet method are discussed in the paper. It was found that when the atomizers were far enough from each other, the diameters of droplets being formed did not depend on the distance between the atomizers. Below some critical value of L, the droplet diameter decreased with a decrease of the distance between atomizers. On the basis of the analysis of the effect of distance L between the atomizers on mean droplet diameters, the authors proposed an empirical model.
