An analysis of skin effect and power losses in a winding of a choke inductor of a step-down, buck-type switched mode power supply is presented in the paper. The computations using the elaborated field-circuit model of the supply and the experimental verification are carried out. The elaborated model is used for analysis of losses in a winding of a choke coil taking account of the impact of skin and proximity effects on the distribution of current density and losses.
