Lean Management is a philosophy and management concept, based on reduction of the waste and resources used in the process of producing goods and providing services. Lean Management genesis dates back to scientific management in America (for example concepts of H. Ford and F.W. Taylor) and quality management, including development of TQM concept. Japanese Toyota Production System has been inspired by chosen elements of these concepts, and then it evolved towards global concept called Toyota Way (which connects production rules with values and work attitude). TPS is considered to be a major precursor of lean manufacturing and now more widely – Lean Management. LM is a broader set of organisational and management tools, formed mainly by the Japanese culture, but also subjected to the Western influences in the field of organisation and management (Jakonis 2011, Parkes 2014).

Lean Management to filozofia i koncepcja zarządzania, która opiera się na redukcji marnotrawstwa i zasobów używanych w procesie wytwarzania wyrobów i świadczenia usług. Geneza Lean Management sięga początków naukowego zarządzania w Ameryce (np. koncepcji H. Forda i F.W. Taylora) oraz zarządzania przez jakość, w tym rozwoju koncepcji TQM. Ich wybrane elementy posłużyły jako inspiracje dla japońskiego Systemu Produkcyjnego Toyoty, który z czasem ewoluował w stronę globalnej koncepcji Toyota Way (łączącej zasady organizacji produkcji z propagowanymi wartościami i podejściem do pracy). TPS uważany jest za głównego prekursora lean manufacturing a obecnie szerzej - Lean Management. LM jest pojemniejszym zbiorem narzędzi organizowania i zarządzania, ukształtowanym głównie przez japońską kulturę, ale i poddanym zachodnim wpływom z zakresu organizacji i zarządzania (por.: Jakonis 2011, Parkes 2014).

Ogólnoświatowe drżenie do podnoszenia wymagań w zakresie jakości świadczeń zdrowotnych wpływa na przemiany w systemie funkcjonowania placówek medycznych, wymagających ponoszenia dodatkowych kosztów. Tymczasem wzrastająca presja obniżania kosztów wymusza konieczność szukania wewnętrznych sposobów poprawy efektywności zarządzania. Placówki medyczne należą do organizacji, w których zapewnienie odpowiedniej jakości świadczonych usług stanowi wartość priorytetową - chodzi bowiem o bezpieczeństwo pacjenta, jego życie i zdrowie. Ograniczanie generowanych kosztów z zachowaniem należytej jakości świadczonych usług stanowi wyzwanie dla zarządzających, bo jakość kosztuje, ale jeszcze więcej kosztuje brak jakości. Dlatego też w artykule przedstawiono użyteczność controllingu kosztów jakości w efektywnym zarządzaniu przez jakość. System controllingu kosztów jakości poprzez planowanie, kontrolę i sterowanie kosztami związanymi z jakością prowadzonych działań ułatwia eliminację zdarzeń przypadkowych i wykrywanie nieprawidłowości zanim jeszcze wystąpią. Dlatego stanowi dobre uzupełnienie stosowanych metod zarządczych.

The worldwide struggle to raise quality requirements within health service provision influences changes in the functioning of medical institutions, with additional cost implications. Meanwhile, the increasing pressure to lower costs drives internal initiatives to improve management efficiency. Medical institutions are among the organizations for whom provision of adequate quality of services is a priority value - motivated by concern for the safety of patients' lives and health. Reducing the cost of services whilst retaining their quality is a challenge for managers; quality comes with high costs, yet a lack of quality may be more costly still. Therefore, the article presents the utllity of controlling quality cost in effective quality management systems. Managing quality costs through planning, monitoring and cost control helps eliminate random events and promotes detection of mistakes before they occur. Therefore, controlling quality cost is an important feature of best practice management methods.

This paper presents the influence of Global Sourcing concept on functioning and development of companies. It points at the most important short and long term advantages which derive from the implementation of this supply idea by Polish entrepreneurs. The identified advantages (e.g. reduction of a production cost, improvement of a final product quality, diversification of a supply risk, improvement of a negotiation position with existing suppliers) ensure Global Sourcing a high position in comparison to other supply methods and can greatly encourage other Polish entrepreneurs to purchase on international market from foreign, qualified suppliers.

In extremely turbulent situation when world faces major economic crisis then particularly Indian manufacturing sector had major set back. In such situation some of Indian cement sector has demonstrated healthy performance through innovative supply chain practices. In this study author conducted an empirical study to understand how innovative practices in supply chain in combination with TQM (Total Quality Management) can help firm to reduce cost and improve customer satisfaction which in turn reflect high profitability and better market share. Out of five proposed model four model is accepted and fifth model is not supported by regression analysis. The findings clearly reveal that Indian cement Industry is quite in nascent stage to adopt Innovative supply chain practices.

W wyjątkowo niespokojnych czasach, kiedy świat stawia czoła poważnemu kryzysowi gospodarczemu, szczególnie indyjski sektor wytwórczy doświadczył poważnego zahamowania. Pomimo takiej sytuacji, część indyjskiego sekora cementu wykazała dobrą wydajność dzięki zastosowaniu innowacyjnych praktyk w łańcuchu dostaw. W nieniejszej pracy autor przeprowadza badanie w celu zrozumienia jak innowacyjne praktyki w łańcuchu dostaw w połączeniu z zarządzaniem przez jakość (TQM) może pomóc przedsiębiorstwu zredukować koszty i poprawić satysfakcję klienta, co z kolei znajduje odzwierciedlenie w wysokiej rentowności i większym udziale w rynku. Z pięciu zaproponowanych modeli cztery zostały zaakceptowane, a piąty model nie jest wspierany przez analizę regresji. Wyniki jasno wykazują, że przemysł indyjskiego cementu znajduje się w stanie sprzyjającym zastosowaniu innowacyjnych praktyk w łańcuchu dostaw.

The article presents a method of processes improvement called "Six Sigma ". It discusses key elements of the method and its relations to Total Quality Management and ISO 9001. The article quotes examples of the Six Sigma method applications in concerns worldwide, as well as information on the method itself, possibilities and needs of its application in a condensed way. It also emphasises its importance for quality systems functioning as part of work process improvement.

In this paper we present the method of the quality management system's profitability rating. We focused our attention on problem of rating of innovation projects in the short and medium (approximately one year) horizon of QMS exploitation. The presented example illustrates the need of integrated approach for rating of innovation projects.

Kolejna - III sesja Międzynarodowej Szkoły Jakości odbyła się pod hasłem "W drodze do Unii Europejskiej".

Just three times was organized the International Quality School in Polish environment. The third meeting, in southern part of country, demonstrated different aspects of real quality, including European Quality Award winners presentations. Main organizers, the UNDP-Umbrella from Warsaw, EFQM from Brussels and JICA from Tokyo-Japan, prepared additionally very interesting topics and presentations. The new ISO 9000:2000 standards can serve as very first steps to further development of enterprises. The goal is TQM. And the Excellence Model of the EFQM is good example for the determination of TQM-level achieved in each company. Representatives from Nokia (Finland), Burton-Apta (Hungary) and AF-Ringkoebing (Denmark) - the EQA winners in proper categories, demonstrated the various ways to the success. Complementation of performances applied in Matsushita Group (National Panasonic) gived the possibility to comparison of TQM approaches, practically in the worldwide range. The encouragement to the participation in such competition was one of the IQS-goals. The description of all discussions and conclusions is included in the article.

Prawidłowością jednak powinno również być, skoro o doskonaleniu jakości pracy szkół w założeniach reformy mowa, świadome i celowe zarządzanie tą zmianą, czyli jej nieustanne doskonalenie.

A powerful change in the thinking in relation to the school management was starting. This is very positive occurrence, although is joined with the part of school managers only. The introduction of quality management systems is not sufficient, because the continuous improvement of quality must be considered. Therefore this change should be correctly managed. It forms a base for the wide reform of national education system. For these aims was a PHARE Program called TERM-AIE (Training for Education Reform Management-Improving the Administration of Education) used. The activity in 15 centres, located in various regions, was developed. They have been correctly equipped and over 160 candidates for further educators selected, who should disseminate the obtained knowledge in others localities and regions. Based on this way the ideas of TQM were introduced as well. During that performance appeared many problems, which different mistakes, dangers and hopes demonstrated. About that treats the article presented.

The most important elements of TOM are: customer orientation (externally and internally), process orientation, preventive perfomance and continuous improvement. These elements influence on the correct organizational structurization of enterprises, if they want to be effective. Actually the hierarchical structures are replaced by process structures, what leads finally to the lean-management. The necessity of rapid reaction on unexpected changes, or better - the prediction of incoming changes, forces to cooperative collaboration between all internal structures of any enterprise. Such approach causes the creation of full organic structure of companies. This conclusion is a result of the presented discussion, what forms the context of the article.

The concept of six sigma is one of the most interesting pragmatic methodologies, leading to the improvement of profitability in all companies used its appriopriately. It bases on quality performance, considering 3-4 defects per milion opportunities (DPMO). This approach is as MAIC system determined (Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control), very similar to the Deming circle.The establishment of Six Sigma-Teams starts the activity in enterprises.The sequence in education levels permits an application of sport grades, coming out from asiatic forms of defence or active fights like green belt or black belt. A correctly implemented Six Sigma method allows the improvement of profitability in companies, growth in efficiency, increasing the employee motivation, morale, pride and carreer development. So complex performance requires good leaders and not managers only. But it presents very promising effects if the reliability in its implementation is applied. All of these aspects are in the publication presented.

The Servqual method is a next example build on the TOM principles. In this case is it oriented to the Total Quality focused on the improvement of quality in services. A conceptual Model of Service Quality and its implications for future research is demonstrated and described. The discussion around all factors presented in this model is clarified and enhanced. The last approach, using the "tolerance zone", elaborated as effect of ultimate ideas and concepts, indicates the necessity of improvement in information systems. The further investigations should include expectations research. information quality, customer unsatisfaction analysis, relationships between services and economic results, and committment of every employee. This conclusion presents more possibilities for enterprises dedicated to services in all fields considered. It is the context of the publication.

Most of the employees from big international firms know the meaning of TQM. In practice many of them don't know how to implement correctly and successfully the TQM principles to proper environments. What kind of factors are very important for the development of any firm in this consideration? We can use 7M or 7N quality tools, but without real committment and continuous aspiration to excellency it will be not possibly. Many seminars emphasize this element of activity. It is presented here, in this article as well. But the practice is the most important, even if it doesn't give the positive results in the first approach. Then is necessary the appriopriate improvement in action. But what to do earlier, should be discussed and determine before take the action. Very helpful is Hoshin Kanri performance. It starts from basic management philosophy, what is fundamental element for further activity: 16 points explain many aspects of such thinking and practice. It includes the motivation and self-motivation of people. And excellency is continuous aspiration, with crucial role of top management. The article presents these aspects of TQM implementation in practical and intellectual dimension.

The activity costs calculation has proper application in real costs calculation of products. The correct performance ABC - Activity Based Costing presents better effectivity and transparency with more understable effects. Every enterprise uses resources, which are linked to the corresponding costs. Among them are: employees, materials, machinery, energy, etc. Therefore is important to find detailed resource for so called cost drivers, activity drivers, measures drivers, and so on. Process approach in the ABC-methodology gives the possibility of other analysis, based on different criteria, applied to effectiveness of company. This way it demonstrates new consideration in comparison to the traditional performance. It is described in the presented article.

The comparison of costs and effective results, in firms applying quality management, can not be very transparent and clear. The expectation of exact calculation of this kind is not possible. Practically is necessary to include all organizational and market aspects resulting in generally from the implementation of quality system to the appriopriate functioning of company. They are very effective, specially with the real application of the meaning "the next process is your customer". This philosophy allowed to change the situation in TYMBARK Co. from very bad position, even near bankruptcy, to one of the leading, in food processing sector, during the last 10 years. The prize of Polish Quality Award, obtained in 1999 year, confirms the facts only. The practical consideration of such performance based on TQM philosophy creates new and innovative possibilities and hopes. Conclusions are presented in the publication.
