Contemporary bomb attacks are conducted unexpectedly by non-regular armed groups, and are thus called asymmetrical operations. It means that even poorly armed groups are able to face modern armies of this world. The article deals with this issue and discusses the possibility for such threats to occur in the world and in Poland. It also provides data on the number of victim soldiers and civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq in effect of combat operations and terrorist bomb attacks (including the suicidal ones), as well as discusses problems encountered by our soldiers in combat missions.
