Bezpieczeństwo jako zagadnienie ujmowane jest z wielu różnych perspektyw, m.in. z etycznej, prawnej, psychologicznej, a także politycznej itd. Analizy w tej kwestii zmierzają do głównego celu, jakim jest wyznaczenie uwarunkowań w temacie wzmocnienia zasobów oraz likwidacji czynników zagrożenia. Bardzo specyficznym środowiskiem, które zostało wytworzone przez człowieka w celu ochrony społeczeństwa przed osobami niebezpiecznymi, naruszającymi standardy prawne i moralne jest zakład karny. Celem artykułu jest ocena percepcji bezpieczeństwa przez osoby pozbawione wolności.

Security as an issue is perceived from many different perspectives, including ethical, legal, psychological and also political, etc. Analyzes in this matter aim at main goal, which is to determine the conditions for strengthening resources and eliminating risk factors. A prison is a very specific environment that has been created by man in order to protect society from dangerous people who violate legal and moral standards. The aim the author of the article is therefore to analyze the issues related to the sense of security of people serving a prison sentence, assuming that this security is a component of psychological security.

Application of group supervision as a method of developing staff in penal institutions

Introduction/background: The article discusses the subject of group learning among prison service officers based on the example of group supervision. Aim of the paper: Based on the studies of the subject literature and the authors’ own research, an attempt was made to identify the benefits and barriers which accompany the implementation of group supervision within the framework of the prison system. Materials and methods: The research was conducted in 2020, and the research method was individual interview with a standardized list of searched for information (semi-structured). The selection of study participants was carried out through purposive sampling; the respondents were prison service officers acting as psychologists with at least 15 years’ experience in active service, defined as "experts". Results and conclusions: The respondents agree concordantly that group supervision is a valuable method of group learning, emphasizing benefits such as: expanding awareness, understanding the dynamics of relationships with inmates, coping with difficult emotions, and obtaining valuable feedback. Among the barriers preventing officers from using this form on a permanent basis, the respondents mentioned: budgetary constraints in terms of financing, lack of regularity and cyclicality of meetings, and low awareness among superiors as to the beneficial aspects of supervision.

This article raises the issue of designing and adapting correctional facilities to the new perception of prisoners as well as comprehension of punishment. For research purposes, several European prisons which came into service over recent years were selected. A study of such facilities revealed design solutions that may significantly affect the process of rehabilitation for inmates and make such buildings an accepted part of society.

Artykuł porusza kwestię projektowania i dostosowania obiektów penitencjarnych do współczesnego postrzegania więźniów oraz rozumienia idei kary więziennej. Na potrzeby badań wybrano i przeanalizowano kilka europejskich obiektów penitencjarnych, które w ostatnich latach zostały oddane do użytku. Omówione przykłady pozwoliły na odnalezienie rozwiązań projektowych mogących istotnie wpłynąć na proces rehabilitacji osadzonych, a także na „oswojenie” tych obiektów wśród społeczeństwa.
