Przedstawiono nowy sposób eksploatacji złoża rud miedzi, zwłaszcza małej miąższości, w obrębie stref ochronnych głównych wyrobisk korytarzowych (dotychczas filarów oporowych), umożliwiający wykonywanie i utrzymywanie w zrobach wyrobisk wentylacyjno-komunikacyjnych. Sposób ten został zastosowany w praktyce podczas drążenia upadowych E-1/4, na granicy pól E i F kopalni POLKOWICE-SIEROSZOWICE.

In the Legnica-Głogów Copper District copper deposit bound in the safety zones of central galleries (support pillars) is mined out during the final phase of the mining area extraction. The winning is carried out under tight conditions and high level of bump hazard. The bump prevention measures used there have an impact on the mining concentration restriction and increase mining costs. The new approach is based on mining in those areas before the neighbouring ones. The proposed method enables efficient management of the waste rock, especially within thin deposit regions as well as maintaining ventilation and haulage workings within a caving filled up with dry backfill. The latter is possible due to secondary geomechanical balance obtained within the safety zone of those workings. The presented method consists in driving the central communication and ventilation galleries with simultaneous face entry and yielding works along the whole width of the safety zone (I phase of mining activity). At the specified distance from the mining face, in the workings of the I phase of mining (stopes and perpendicular workings), the waste rock from the selective mining is placed. During the II phase of mining works the technological pillars are mined out and the gobs are filled with waste rock and the ventillation and communication headings are separated. Depending on local rock-mass conditions the stability of those headings is maintained by unmined technological pillars or substitute pillars formed of the waste rock (in justified cases reinforced by deposit residues) or their combination. The method was used in practice during E-1/4 inclines driving at the boundary of E and F fields of the POLKOWICE-SIEROSZOWICE mine. To date results of rock-mass behaviour testing are positive and confirm that the technological assumptions were correct.
