The paper presents the results of numerical investigation carried out to optimize the strength of austoferritic ductile iron ADI. The influence of size and density of the graphite particles on ductile iron strength were tested. Numerical calculation was performed using program ABAQUS for plain stress state. On the numerical analysis basis it was determined that relative share of particles ρ = 8% and particle diameter equal 8% µm are as optimal.

W artykule przedstawiono zasady zastosowania sieci neuronowych do prognozowania podstawowych właściwości mechanicznych żeliwa sferoidalnego, tj. wytrzymałości na rozciąganie i wydłużenia względnego.

This paper presents rules neural networks use for forecasting of main mechanical properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron i.e. tensile strength and unit elongation. Such modelling is useful to determine these material properties for castings that machining the tensile test specimens is difficult.

The study shows the results of mechanical tests carried out on ductile iron with various additions of nickel (9,7%-26% N), chromium (0,16%-1,2% Cr) and vanadium (approx.0,6% V). The investigated mechanical parameters included: tensile strength (R[m]), proof stress (R[p02]), elongation (A5) and reduction of area (Z). The final part of the study includes discussion of results, general statements and conclusions.
