Praca poświęcona jest rozwiązaniom warszawskich wysokościowych budynków pod względem systemów komunikacji pionowej. Wybrano przykłady badań przez projektowanie trzech budynków wysokościowych, które wskazują przyjętą metodykę opracowania optymalnych rozwiązań oraz przedstawienie wyników badań ostatecznie wybranego systemu. Celem badań było każdorazowo osiągnięcie wyjściowych kryteriów działania systemu. Prowadzono je przez iterację różnych konfiguracji systemu. Wybierano rozwiązania optymalne pod względem efektywności budynku oraz elastyczności najmu. Badania empiryczne i ich wyniki przedstawiono na tle osiągnięć światowych.

The work is devoted to the definition of solutions for skyscraper office buildings in Warsaw against the background of the latest global technology of vertical communication systems. For this purpose, the paper presents the examples of research by design of three high-rise buildings in Warsaw, which indicate the adopted methodology of developing optimal solutions in the field of elevator service as well as the results of research and finally selected systems. The aim of the research was to achieve the initial criteria for the system's operation. The research was carried out by iterating and varianting various configurations of the system and checking it as the basis for building core solutions. Solutions that met the defined criteria were optimal in terms of building efficiency and rental flexibility. Empirical research and its results are presented against the background of world achievements. The results indicate that both the research methodology and the systems used follow the contemporary development of the latest globally present solutions.

The paper is devoted to the description of the methodology and research by design carried out to identify solutions enhancing the functional flexibility of a high-rise building located in Warsaw at. Grzybowska Street. The work presents the theoretical background as well as the conducted research and methodology. The scope of solutions related to functional flexibility concerned the interchangeability of service functions in the podium part of the building, changes in the use of the parking lot, and the provision of the means of changes in the arrangement of types and variants of types of apartments on the apartments levels. The investigation was carried out in the pre-design and design phases. Objectives and criteria of solutions were defined, and research works were carried out through iterations and checking in terms of the cost-effectiveness. The adopted solutions consist in designing the optimal hard portion of the building - the core, the structural system, the arrangement of zones and installation rooms, and the use of structural and spatial over-designed systems. An optimal facade module has been developed. The research aims to introduce the design practice to the issue of flexibility, which is nowadays important for economic and environmental reasons.

Tekst poświęcony jest opisowi metodologii oraz badań przez projektowanie służących określeniu rozwiązań sprzyjających elastyczności funkcjonalnej budynku wysokościowego położonego w Warszawie przy ul. Grzybowskiej. Praca przedstawia tło teoretyczne oraz prowadzone badania i ich metodologię. Zakres rozwiązań związanych z elastycznością funkcjonalną dotyczył wymienności funkcji usługowych w części podium budynku, zmian użytkowania parkingu oraz zapewnienia możliwości zmian w układzie typów i wariantów typów mieszkań na piętrach. Prace badawcze prowadzono w fazach: przedprojektowej i projektowej. Określono cele i kryteria rozwiązań oraz prowadzono prace badawcze poprzez iteracje i sprawdzanie pod względem opłacalności rozwiązań. Przyjęte rozwiązania polegają na zaprojektowaniu optymalnej części stałej budynku - trzonu, układu konstrukcyjnego, rozmieszczenia stref i pomieszczeń instalacji oraz zastosowanie naddatków konstrukcyjnych i przestrzennych. Wypracowano optymalny moduł fasadowy. Badania mają na celu przybliżyć praktyce projektowej problematykę elastyczności które współcześnie jest istotna ze względów ekonomicznych i środowiskowych.

The paper is devoted to the problem of the relationship between public space and high-rise buildings implemented in Warsaw in the years 1989-2022. The location of twenty-three high-rise buildings with a minimum height of one hundred meters was examined in terms of their role as basic elements of the city image and urban composition, according to the theory of K. Lynch and K. Wejchert, multi-functionality of the space available in the public space in the examined buildings, number of users objects, parameters of the nearest neighboring public space - its area and width, and the visibility of objects from the public space. Research shows that the high-rise buildings located in Warsaw are located next to the public space that does not correspond to their scale and the generated traffic in the public space. Most of the buildings are located at streets or traffic junctions, only two buildings are located at the squares, and one at the closure of the streets. It is not possible to distinguish a coherent planning strategy related to the location of such facilities in Warsaw.

Tekst poświęcony jest problematyce relacji pomiędzy przestrzenią publiczną a wysokościowcami realizowanymi w Warszawie w latach 1989-2022. Przebadano lokalizację dwudziestu trzech budynków wysokościowych o wysokości minimalnej stu metrów pod kątem ich roli, jako elementów podstawowych obrazu miasta i kompozycji urbanistycznej, wg teorii K. Lyncha i K. Wejcherta, wielofunkcyjność przestrzeni dostępnej w badanych budynkach z przestrzeni publicznej, liczbę użytkowników obiektów, parametry najbliższej sąsiadującej przestrzeni publicznej – jej powierzchnię i szerokość oraz widoczność obiektów z przestrzeni publicznej. Badania wskazują, że lokalizowane w Warszawie wysokościowce są położone przy przestrzeni publicznej nieodpowiadającej ich skali i generowanemu ruchowi w przestrzeni publicznej. W większości budynki położone są przy ulicach lub węzłach komunikacyjnych, jedynie dwa obiekty położone są przy placach, a jeden na zamknięciu ulic. Nie jest możliwe wyodrębnienie spójnej strategii planistycznej związanej z lokalizacją tego typu obiektów w Warszawie.

In the first part, the article describes the stages of the development of gyroplanes and the influence of wartime policy on the interest in light aircraft. Also presented are links and the possibilities of using gyroplanes in various sectors of the economy. The authors, based on source texts, present the current position of the aviation industry in the Polish economy and attempt to diagnose its development capabilities. As a result, factors responsible for the current condition of the light aviation industry and its links with architecture and urban planning are submitted. The question is posed: what consequences will the development of the aviation industry bring for architecture and urban planning, for the community and the image of 21st century cities?

Niniejszy artykuł w pierwszej części przybliża etapy rozwoju wiatrakowców oraz ukazuje wpływ polityki czasów wojennych na zainteresowanie lekkimi statkami powietrznymi. Przedstawione zostają również powiązania oraz możliwości wykorzystywania wiatrakowców w różnych sektorach gospodarki. Autorzy, na podstawie tekstów źródłowych, ukazują aktualną pozycję przemysłu lotniczego w polskiej gospodarce i podejmują próbę diagnozy jego możliwości rozwojowych. W efekcie zidentyfikowane zostają czynniki oddziałujące na obecny stan przemysłu lotnictwa lekkiego oraz jego powiązania z architekturą i urbanistyką. Otwarte więc jest pytanie: jakie konsekwencje przyniesie rozwój przemysłu lotniczego dla architektury i urbanistyki, dla społeczności i obrazu miast XXI wieku?

Przewidywania XX-wiecznych architektów – futurologów dotyczące realizacji budynków ekstremalnie wysokich znajdują obecnie częściowe potwierdzenie. Wysokościowce nie stały się narzędziem sanacji układów urbanistycznych, skutecznym remedium na przeludnienie ani sposobem na wyrównanie szans i standardów życia miejskich społeczności, lecz pozostają niezastąpione jako środek panowania nad zbiorową wyobraźnią. Pozornie irracjonalne współzawodnictwo we wznoszeniu coraz wyższych budynków trwa nieprzerwanie, stanowiąc nieodłączną składową globalnej rywalizacji ekonomicznej i politycznej.

The forecasts of 20th c. architects and futurologists concerning the realization of extremely tall buildings currently find their partial confirmation. The high-rise buildings have not become an instrument for healing urban arrangements, nor an effective remedy for overpopulation or a means which enables urban communities to equalize the chances and standards of life – but they are nevertheless irreplaceable as a means of controlling the collective imagination. The seemingly irrational competition in the construction of ever taller buildings continues uninterruptedly, constituting an inseparable component of global economic and political competition.

Realizacja bardzo wysokich budynków jest zjawiskiem nieustannie zachodzącym w części wielkich miast europejskich. Analiza obecnych oraz planowanych lokalizacji i form wysokościowców europejskich pozwala stwierdzić, że w przyszłości budynki te mają szanse przyczyniać się w coraz większym stopniu do uwydatniania indywidualnego charakteru metropolii Europy i podkreślania specyfiki układu ich ośrodków bądź położenia, nie potęgując wyłącznie zjawiska „amerykanizacji” wizerunku niektórych europejskich miast.

The construction of tall buildings is a phenomenon that occurs continually in the big cities of Europe. An analysis of current and planned locations and forms of high-rise buildings in Europe allows us to conclude that, in the future, these buildings are likely to increasingly emphasise the individual character of the metropolises of Europe and highlight the specificity of their centres or locations, and not only exacerbate the phenomenon of „Americanisation” of the image of some European cities.

Budynki wysokie o funkcji komercyjno-prestiżowej, nawet obdarzone przyjaznym środowisku przyrodniczo-kulturowemu wizerunkiem, pozostają jednym ze sztandarowych przejawów "konsumpcji na pokaz". Jednak ich nieprzemijająca popularność wymaga uwzględnienia takich obiektów w strukturze miasta oszczędnego już na etapie planowania - tak, by procesy wielkoinwestycyjne nie przyjmowały jak dotąd, znamion patologii. Wydaje się, że przejawy "kreacji ekstremalnej" stanowić powinny wyjątek od reguły rozwoju miasta "do wewnątrz".

Tall buildings with a commercial-prestigious function, even those endowed with an image which is friendly towards the natural and cultural environment, still remain one of the flagship symptoms of "consumption for show". Yet their unwaning popularity cal!s for taking into consideration the presence of such buildings in the structure of a frugal city already at the planning stage - so that the big investment processes would not take on the features of a pathology, as they often have done up until now. It seems that the symptoms of "extreme creation" should constitute an exception from the rule of an "inwardly" developing city.
