Z powodu braku fachowej literatury, niniejszy artykuł może być wykorzystany jako literatura uzupełniająca z przedmiotu Rozpoznanie i Armie Innych Państw, zwłaszcza dla słuchaczy o specjalności artyleria naziemna i artyleria rakietowa.

The author’s intention is to present organization, number of pieces and combat potential of Russia’s field artillery. Field artillery has always played a significant role in the military forces of Russia. During World War II it made a major contribution to the Russian victory over Germany and was named the "God of War". Nowadays Russia’s field artillery is still one of the biggest in the world. It probably consists of more than thirty thousand pieces. Many of the guns and howitzers are obsolete but there are also very modern ones, which are as good as the NATO countries’ field artilleries or even better. Russia puts special emphasis on rocket artillery. The 300 mm MLRS SMIERCZ and 220 mm MLRS URAGAN are the best weapons in their class in the world. These launchers are characterized by long range and enormous lethality. Although Russia’s military possesses immense potential and is able to provide all kinds of modern artillery equipment, it has financial problems, which restrains its development. Nevertheless, field artillery is still one of the most important branches in the Russian Land Forces and it will not change in the nearest future.

Podano założenia i główne kierunki prac badawczo-rozwojowych (modernizacyjnych), prowadzonych w celu zastąpienia aktualnego podwozia wyrzutni artyleryjskiej BM-21 nową konstrukcją. Przedstawiono zakres i niektóre wyniki prac modernizacyjnych w podwoziu trzyosiowego samochodu ciężarowego. Zasadniczym celem modernizacji było uzyskanie poprawy właściwości dynamicznych i eksploatacyjnych podwozia oraz polepszenie warunków jazdy załogi.

The assumptions and main directions of the research-development (modernisation) studies are carried out in order to replace current BM-21 artillery launcher chassis with a new one. The range and selected results of modernisation works performed in the three-axle vehicles chassis are presented. The essential goal of the modernisation was to improve dynamic and operating properties of the chassis and improvement of the vehicle crew driving conditions.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań modelowych i eksperymentalnych prowadzonych w celu oceny przeprowadzonej modernizacji podwozia i przystosowania samochodu ciężarowego do transportu wyrzutni artyleryjskiej BM21. Główną uwagę skupiono na ocenie poprawy właściwości dynamicznych i eksploatacyjnych podwozia oraz polepszenia warunków jazdy załogi. Praca stanowi podsumowanie ponad dwuletnich badań, które prowadzono w tym zakresie w ramach Projektu Celowego "Modernizacja układu jezdnego wyrzutni BM-21".

The work presents the results of model and experimental tests carried out in order to estimate the modernisation of chassis and adjustment of a truck for the transport of BM2l artillery launcher. The main attention was paid on the evaluation of the improvement of dynamic and operating properties of the chassis as well as on the improvement of the vehicle crew driving conditions. The work makes a summary of over two-year tests that were carried out within this scope according to the Target Project: "Modernisation of he BM-21 launcher driving system".
