The role of intelligence is crucial and must be horizontally integrated across the strategic, operational, and tactical levels. This will hopefully ensure that the key pieces of intelligence are delivered to the decision-maker in a timely manner. The Intelligence Cell (J2 – S2) must understand the needs of the operational community and work hand-in-hand with the Operational Cell (J3 – S3) to ensure that the commander is properly supported. Intelligence preparation of the battlefield is vital to successful IO. Information Operations are predicated on good information and intelligence.

Pod pojęciem osłony nawigacyjnej rozumiemy system obejmujący całokształt działań i środków zapewniaj ących bezpieczną i efektywną żeglugę. Osłona nawigacyjna jest częścią infrastruktury obronnej i transportowej. Ze względu na międzynarodowy charakter żeglugi morskiej i autonomię poszczególnych państw nadbrzeżnych, w sferze cywilnej nie mówi się o osłonie nawigacyjnej w sensie globalnym. Jednakże używa się jej w odniesieniu do poszczególnych państw lub konkretnych akwenów.

The term navigational support denotes a system covering all activities and measures ensuring safe and effective navigation. Navigational support is a part of defensive and transportation infrastructure. Due to both the international character of the sea transport and the autonomy of all the coastal countries, the navigational support is not, in the civil sphere, described in a global sense. However, this term is used with reference to individual countries and sea areas.
