Failure risk analysis of water distributions systems using hydraulic models on real field data

At this paper the analysis of failure risk in the two water supply systems in the south-eastern Poland is presented. For this purpose the hydraulic models of the water networks created in the EPANET 2 on the basis of data obtained from the water networks operation were used. The consequences of failure of individual pipelines were determined. The areas that are most vulnerable to pressure fluctuations in the water supply system resulting from the failure of these pipelines, were located.

Bezpieczeństwo przewozu osób mikrobusami to rozległe zagadnienie, które wymaga wielu badań i analiz. Konieczne jest poszukiwanie rozwiązań kompromisowych pomiędzy funkcją foteli w zakresie poprawy komfortu jazdy, dążeniem do minimalizacji ryzyka obrażeń w czasie wypadku drogowego, a koniecznością transportu możliwie dużej liczby pasażerów. Celem prowadzonych rozważań jest opracowanie metody obliczeniowej, w której obecnie rozpoznawane relacje pomiędzy cechami konstrukcyjnymi foteli, ich rozmieszczeniem w mikrobusie oraz działaniem środków ochrony indywidualnej na osoby o różnych cechach antropometrycznych zostaną wykorzystane do liczbowej oceny ryzyka obrażeń pasażerów podczas wypadku drogowego. Opisywane relacje są analizowane na podstawie wyników coraz szerzej prowadzonych badań eksperymentalnych i symulacji komputerowej w tym zakresie.

The safety of passenger transportation by minibuses is a complex issue, which requires extensive research and analyses. Solutions must be sought that would be a compromise between the seat functions aimed at achieving the best possible ride comfort, the striving to minimize the risk of injury in case of a road accident, and the necessity to transport as many passengers as possible. Deliberations have been presented that would lead to developing a calculation method, where the relations recognized at present between constructional features of seats, deployment of seats in a minibus, and action of individual protection means on people with different anthropometric features would be used for numerical evaluation of the risk of injuries to vehicle passengers during a road accident. The relations under consideration are analysed on the grounds of results of experimental research and computer simulations, which are more and more widely carried out on these issues.

Ogrody pracownicze lub rodzinne, zwane potocznie działkami lub ogrodami działkowymi, są bardzo popularnym miejscem wypoczynku i rekreacji mieszkańców miast. Niejednokrotnie wykorzystywane są także w amatorskiej uprawie warzyw i owoców. Z uwagi na spełniane funkcje powinny być zlokalizowane na obszarach wolnych od zanieczyszczeń powietrza, gleb oraz wód gruntowych. Niestety, w większości polskich aglomeracji ogrody działkowe są rozmieszczone w okolicach zakładów przemysłowych, tras komunikacyjnych oraz na terenach poddanych rekultywacji, gdzie często obserwuje się zanieczyszczenie metalami ciężkimi i innymi substancjami.

The paper assesses the human health risk for users of allotment gardens in Wrocław. The assessment is made on the basis of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Zn) hazard. It takes the two main routes of exposure into account: accidental ingestion of contaminated soil and dermal contact with contaminated soil. Attention was focused on recreational scenario of hazard. The methods used have been recommended by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Results of the analysis show the highest value of the hazard index can be observed for children, in the allotment gardens located in Wroclaw – Grabiszyn, in the area of environmental impact of Hutmen factory.

In the field of road safety, the concept of "risk" is used to define a measurable level of road safety dependent on numerical accident exposure value. This is an approach different (even contradictory) to calculate the level of security, measured by the number of accidents or injuries. So, whether otherwise - risk assessment is needed to improve the safety of road transport and define priorities in the field of public health. The article presents the concept of risk and selected problems of risk analysis in road traffic.

W dziedzinie bezpieczeństwa drogowego pojęcie "ryzyka" jest używane na określenie mierzalnego poziomu bezpieczeństwa drogowego zależnego od liczbowej wartości "ekspozycji ryzyka". Jest to podejście różniące się (a nawet przeciwstawne) do obliczania poziomu bezpieczeństwa mierzonego przez liczbę wypadków lub obrażeń ciała. Tak, czy inaczej - ocena ryzyka jest potrzebna do poprawy bezpieczeństwa transportu drogowego i zdefiniowania priorytetów w obszarze zdrowia publicznego. W artykule przedstawiono koncept oraz wybrane problemy analizy ryzyka w ruchu drogowym.
