The Pneumatic Transport of Weak Weft Structures

This article presents research work which concerns the loss of weft continuity while being picked with the use of a pneumatic loom. A stand designed and constructed with the aim of investigating the destructive influence of the air stream on the weft is presented, as well as the investigation results. We have stated that dependencies of weft degradation on the effective intensity of the air stream exist. The various characters of these dependencies and the influence of the structure of the transported fibre stream, which additionally changes under the influence of the air stream, were further stated. We found that the differentiation of structure and diameter of the fibre stream intensifies the destruction, whereas the existence of a yarn core inhibits it.

Artykuł przedstawia prace dotyczące badań przyczyn utraty ciągłości wątku podczas wprowadzania go na krosno pneumatyczne. Opisano stanowisko do badań destrukcyjnego wpływu na wątek transportującego go strumienia powietrza. Przedstawiono również wyniki badań.

Identifying the cause of destruction of textile linear structures

The article presents investigations into the mechanism of continuity loss of textile linear products. A method and tools for implementing it have been developed with the aim of investigating loose textile products, and determining the causes of their destruction. Special emphasis is placed on the usability of the procedure we accepted for investigating the resistance of the product's structure to the action of an aerodynamic force which occurs during the transport of weft with a weak structure. Two mechanisms of yarn breakage, especially that of loose wefts, have been differentiated. The first consists in breaking fibres which form the yarn, and the second in mutual slippage of fibres. Both mechanisms can be determined by analysing the force-elongation curves over yarn stretching in both static and dynamic conditions. The influence of an air stream acting longitudinally to the yarn, its velocity and time of action were also determined, with the aim of recognising the conditions of pneumatic weft transport.

W artykule przedstawione zostały zagadnienia wprowadzania żelazokrzemu do ciekłego żeliwa metodą pneumatyczną. Przeanalizowano głównie wpływ wielkości ziarna wdmuchiwanego żelazostopu na efektywność przyswajania krzemu przez ciekłe żeliwo, jak również spadek temperatury kąpieli w czasie trwania procesu. Eksperymenty dotyczyły przypadku wdmuchiwania proszku do pieca elektrycznego indukcyjnego lancą nie zanurzoną (znad powierzchni kąpieli).

This paper presents problem of pneumatic injection of FeSi into the liquid cast iron. Influence of grain size injected ferroalloys for increase of silicon contents and a temperature of liquid decrease in process time was analyzed. Experiments were concern for a case of injection into an induction furnace with non-submerged lance (above the liquid).
