Treść publikacji stanowią dane statystyczne o sytuacji w przemyśle stalowym na świecie w latach 2019-2020. Dane dotyczące produkcji stali i dynamiki zmian. Wprowadzono również informacje o obrotach handlowych w przemyśle stalowym. Na potrzeby publikacji korzystano z danych statystycznych dostępnych w publikacjach World Steel Association (w skrócie Worldsteel). Zestawienie produkcji stali w okresie dwóch lat miało na celu ukazanie tendencji zmian w wolumenie produkcji. Rok 2019 poprzedzał okres określany jako COVID-19. Sytuacja związana z kryzysem COVID-19 wpłynęła na wielkość produkcji stali w poszczególnych krajach.

The content of the publication consists of statistical data on the situation in the steel industry in the world in 2019-2020. Data on steel production and the dynamics of changes. Information on international trade in the steel industry was also introduced. For the publication, the statistical data available in the publications of the World Steel Association (abbreviated as Worldsteel) were used. The analysis of steel production over the period of two years was aimed at showing the trends of changes in the production volume. 2019 was preceded by a period known as COVID-19. The situation related to the COVID-19 crisis influenced the volume of steel production in individual countries.

The development of new production systems during the fourth industrial revolution is called Industry 4.0. Production in industry 4.0 is carried out by industrial robots with intelligence computers using the Internet to control and communicate devices and man with devices and to integrate all processes inside and outside the enterprise within the supply chain using all possible technical solutions to connect the virtual world and the real world. Particular branches of industry in the world invest in new technology. New technology is implemented in the metallurgical industry, too. Managers in enterprises in the steel industry want to know how trends in steel production will be in the future. The key aim of this publication is to present forecasts of steel production quantities in the world until 2022.

The analysis of the prognostic trends of the level of steel production on the basis of statistical data on the quantity of the world steel production in the years 2000-2017, was carried out. To determine the forecast for steel production level, different statistical methods were employed. The prognoses for the level of the world steel production were determined up to 2022. The real (historical data) data concerning the quantity of the world steel production in 2018 were compared to the forecast for the level of steel production in 2018, with the establishment of prognostic error (deviation of real data and the prognostic ones). The basic aim of the study was to obtain the answer to the following question: whether we may assume the development of the discussed industry in the future in the light of the determined forecasts of the world steel production level.

W publikacji dokonano analizy trendów prognostycznych wielkości produkcji stali na podstawie danych statystycznych o wielkości produkcji stali na świecie w latach 2000-2017. Do wyznaczenia prognoz wielkości produkcji stali zastosowano różne metody statystyczne. Prognozy wielkości produkcji stali na świecie wyznaczono do 2022 roku. Dane rzeczywiste (historyczne) dotyczące wielkości produkcji stali na świecie za 2018 rok porównano z prognozą wielkości produkcji stali w 2018 roku, ustalając błąd prognostyczny (odchylenie wielkości rzeczywistych od prognozowanych). Podstawowym celem pracy jest uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytanie: czy w świetle wyznaczonych prognoz wielkości produkcji stali na świecie można zakładać rozwój przemysłu w przyszłości.
