The article describes characteristics of the first comprehensive planning of the housing estate for miners in Wałbrzych. This typical patronage housing estate was constructed at the Traugutt's Sq. (Ritter Platz) for miners working in nearest mine of Książ Establishment (Fuerslensteiner Consolidierte) - Marie and Hans Heinrich. Surrounded with greenery is still independent urban unit. These were the intentions of locator - Hochberg. The estate was probably imitated the German estates at Krupp's fabrics and the English ones. It was shown as the exemplary estate at the Word Exposition in St. Louise 1904. By the centre of this complex runs the little street, perpendicular to Traugutt's Street (Ritter Sir.). Around it stand one storey buildings with small garden at the fronts, firstly divided by hedges. The elevations of buildings were projected to accent regular central characters of this urban unit. Also the organisation of roads had the same aim. The buildings at Traugutt's Sq. are the earliest examples of brick architecture in dwelling architecture taken from the first independent English workers housing estates from 60.-80. XIX c. (Ackroyd, Bournville, Bedford Park or Port Sunlight). In the town planning of this time (XIX/XX c.) appears the problem, which engaged the planers and architects till now, the way to resolve urban composition and possibility of developing. The Hochberg's patronage housing estates were made as selfcontained small composition witch could not be develop.
