The properties of sandwich panels made of standard wood-based panels. The properties of sandwich panels made of standard wood-based panels were examined. Particleboards, MDF and OSB panels as well as plywood were used as internal and external layers of panels. Two types of adhesives: PUR and PVA were used to bind the layers. The physical and mechanical properties of glued sandwich panels were investigated. It was found out that OSB panels covered with plywood have the highest MOE and MOR values, and the panels with an internal layer composed of MDF have the lowest of WA and TS. It has been shown that regardless of the materials used, a panel glued with PUR achieves higher mechanical properties and the lowest WA and TS values.

Digital printing in wood industry. The article presents modern techniques for surface finishing of wood-based panels, including the dynamically developing digital printing technology. The basic technological factors affecting the result of the digital printing process are discussed, and advantages and disadvantages of different types of this technology are presented.

Druk cyfrowy w przemyśle drzewnym. W artykule zebrano i przedstawiono nowoczesne techniki uszlachetniania powierzchni tworzyw drzewnych, w tym dynamicznie rozwijającej się techniki druku cyfrowego. Omówiono podstawowe czynniki technologiczne wpływające na rezultat procesu druku cyfrowego, przestawiono także wady i zalety poszczególnych rodzajów tej technologii.

Assessment of the effectiveness of computer vision using the OpenCV package in finding the centre of a drilled hole in wood based materials

Assessment of the effectiveness of computer vision using the OpenCV package in finding the centre of a drilled hole in wood-based materials. Small diameter holes made in wood-based materials were scanned by non-professional scanning equipment and then analysed to determine the location of the hole. The quality of the hole centre estimation was evaluated by a survey of 21 people. It has been shown that the evaluation using the HoughCirlcles function has an error of less than 0.05 mm in 18 out of 28 cases.

Ocena skuteczności wizji komputerowej z wykorzystaniem pakietu OpenCV w znajdowaniu środka wierconego otworu w materiałach drewnopochodnych. Otwory o małej średnicy wykonane w materiałach drewnopochodnych zostały zeskanowane przez nieprofesjonalny sprzęt skanujący, a następnie przeanalizowane w celu określenia lokalizacji otworu. Jakość oszacowania środka otworu została oceniona w ankiecie przeprowadzonej wśród 21 osób. Wykazano, że ocena za pomocą funkcji HoughCirlcles ma błąd mniejszy niż 0,05 mm w 18 z 28 przypadków.

Due to development of furniture and building industries there has been a growth in companies’ demand for wood based panels, the production of which consumes, first of all, wood raw material. Acquisition and sale of wood in Poland is systematically increasing, however, a strong dynamic of industries connected with wood processing and other related fields leads to an increase in the level of deficit of this raw material. Moreover, the existing trend of rising wood prices calls for search of substitute materials, one of them being wood from plantations of fast growing trees. The article covers research findings into defining the importance of the type of wood material for economic profitability in the process of production of wood-based panels. In order to realize these assumptions there has been applied a modified method of SundsDefibrator, which was used in the calculation of manufacture costs of MDF boards in the United States. The starting point were the costs resulting from technological process of MDF and chipboards.
