Przedstawiono analizę zróżnicowania stężeń SO2 na obszarze byłego woj. katowickiego. Podstawą do rozważań były wyniki pomiarów prowadzonych przez stacje sanitarnoepidemiologiczne. Na ich podstawie stwierdzono znaczny i systematyczny spadek stężenia SO2 na całym obszarze do obowiązujących norm.

The article presents analysis of lead concentration variability in the area of the former Katowice Voievodeship. Data from measurements carried out by the sanitary and epidemiological stations in the area of the former Katowice Voievodeship in the years 1976-2000 served as input data for the analysis. Based on this data a considerable and systematic drop of lead concentration to the level of effective standards in the entire area of the study has been stated.

Studies on temperature fields in mine waste deposition sites, naturally self-heating. The methodology of testing the temperature fields in mine waste deposition sites undergoing the natural self-heating processes has been presented. The studies were conducted on its surface and at the dephth of 1 m below the surface. The results of the test have been presented on the example of the deposition site of "Marcel" coal mine.

Podstawowym celem artykułu jest określenie najistotniejszych zagrożeń dla równowagi rynku pracy w województwie katowickim. W pierwszej części artykułu zawarta jest analiza bieżącej sytuacji rynkowej oparta na strukturze zatrudnienia, poziomie wynagrodzeń i stopie bezrobocia. Część druga dotyczy najistotniejszych zmian, które determinować będą przyszłą sytuację na rynku pracy, tzn. restrukturyzacji przemysłu (głównie górnictwa i hutnictwa), prywatyzacji, rozwoju sektora prywatnego, inwestycji kapitału zagranicznego i tempa wzrostu gospodarczego.L

The principial aim of the article is to determine the main menaces for the equilibrium of labour market in the Katowice province. In the first part there is the analysis of the actual situation of the market, base on the structure of employment, level of pays and rate of unemployment. The second part deals with changes which will be determining the future situation on the labour market, that means: structural changes of industry (especially mining and metallurgy), privatization process, progress of the private sector, foreign investment and rate of economic growth. @

Omówiono znaczenie wód w życiu człowieka w kontekście schorzeń ludzkich, w tym badanej przez autora skoliozy dzieci województwa katowickiego. Starano się wyjaśnić, czy schorzenia te nie są spowodowane warunkami środowiska naturalnego, a w tym przypadku wodami, w których może być niedobór pierwiastków "życia". Wskazano, że w województwie katowickim występują wody o wysokich walorach jakościowych zczerpywane przez kopalnie rud cynkowo-ołowiowych, które powinny być wykorzystane dla mieszkańców południowej części województwa, mających niewłaściwe jakościowo wody.

There is discussed the weight of waters in human life in the context of human diseases, also of the scoliosis of children in Katowice-province. It was tried to elucidate whether those diseases are not caused by the conditions of natural environment, like waters in which there may be shortage of "the elements of the life". It is shown that in Katowice-province there are waters of high qualitative value, which are drawn by mines of zinc-lead ores and which should be utilized for the inhabitants of the south region of the province which has qualitatively unsuitable waters.
