Robust parameter design using the weighted metric method - The case of 'the smaller the better'

In process robustness studies, it is desirable to minimize the influence of noise factors on the system and simultaneously determine the levels of controllable factors optimizing the overall response or outcome. In the cases when a random effects model is applicable and a fixed effects model is assumed instead, an increase in the variance of the coefficient vector should be expected. In this paper, the impacts of this assumption on the results of the experiment in the context of robust parameter design are investigated. Furthermore, two criteria are considered to determine the optimum settings for the control factors. In order to better understand the proposed method and to evaluate its performances, a numerical example for the case of 'the smaller the better' is included.

Racjonalizacja procesów użytkowania i obsługiwania środków transportowych z uwzględnieniem metod i technik prognozowania ich niezawodności eksploatacyjnej jest zagadnieniem istotnym zwłaszcza dla urządzeń pracujących w ruchu ciągłym i pełniących funkcje technologiczne. Sformułowano system wnioskowania decyzyjnego w zakresie eksploatacji urządzenia. Proces decyzyjny w urządzeniu zachodzi w fazach użytkowania i obsługiwania. Na skuteczność procesu decyzyjnego zwłaszcza w fazie obsługiwania istotny wpływ ma baza wiedzy w zakresie eksploatacji przedmiotowego urządzenia i innych zaliczanych do danej klasy. Sformułowano strategie w zakresie obsługiwania urządzenia. Stwierdzono, że proces obsługiwania jest możliwy przy ograniczonej i przy pełnej informacji. Na przykładzie suwnic pomostowych wykazano, że skuteczne podejmowanie decyzji typu prewencyjnego wymaga odpowiednio zaprojektowanej bazy danych oraz narzędzi umożliwiających ich pozyskiwanie i przetwarzania z wykorzystaniem specjalistycznych procedur (metod decyzyjnych). Skuteczność układu decyzyjnego podsystemu sterowania eksploatacją urządzenia w praktyce wyrażana jest zasobem bazy danych o eksploatacji i zdolnością jej wykorzystania w praktyce. Zaproponowana analiza kosztowa procesu obsługiwania urządzeń pozwala zweryfikować realizowane strategie obsługiwania pod względem jakościowym i ilościowym.

Rationalization of operation and maintenance of transportation devices with taken into account methods and tools prognosis for exploitation reliability make many difficulties, especially for continuous use and playing a key position into the process. The decision making system within the range of device exploitation has been formulated. The decision making process is setting in devices' operation and maintenance phases. The data bases of device exploitation history (as well as others metering to the same devices' class) have the important influence at decision effectiveness in maintenace phase. Maintenance strategies of the device have been formulated. It has been certified that the maintenance process is possible both under limited and full information. Based on the overhead cranes example it was proved that the effective maintenance preventive decision needs proper data base of the device and tools which help to get and create right decision making procedures. Effectiveness of the decision making system of the exploitation control subsystem of the device in practice is of opinion of data base capacity of the device exploitation history, as well as its practical usage. Proposed cost analysis of the maintenance process of the device make verification process of implemented strategies possible, both under qualitative and quantitative consideration.

Przedstawiono założenia wykorzystania sieci neuronowch do wnioskowania decyzyjnego wyboru technologii spawania. Podano model wielowarstwowej sieci neuronowej i schemat współdziałania modułów systemu wnioskowania, które będą wykorzystane do wnioskowania o technologii spawania stali dla energetyki.

It has been presented the assumptions for making use of neuron nets to decisive conclusion as to selection of welding technology. It has been given the model of multi-layer neuron net and a scheme of co-operation of conclusion system modules which will be used in conclusion regarding production welding technology for power engineering steel.
