W pracy przedstawiono powtarzalną, efektywną metodę przygotowania włókien z odsłoniętym rdzeniem z zastosowaniem chemicznego, mokrego trawienia w kwasie fluorowodorowym dla wysokorozdzielczych bioczujników optoelektronicznych. Pokazano proces przygotowania światłowodu, przedstawiono zaprojektowaną i wykonaną w tym celu celkę ze zintegrowaną mikroławą do ułożenia trawionego falowodu (V-rowki). Opisano konstrukcję stanowiska z układem kontroli przebiegu procesu przez pomiar mocy optycznej transmitowanej przez trawione włókno.

In this paper repeatable and effective process of exposed-core optical fibers manufacturing using chemical wet etching in hydrofluoric acid was presented. The way of waveguides preparation was shown. For fiber positioning the silicon optical microbench with positioning V-shaped rows was designed and fabricated. The paper includes the description of the set-up consisting the process control system based on etched-fiber optical power measurement.

We present some recent results obtained by our team in rare earth doped photonic glasses and confined structures, in order to give some highlights regarding the state of art in glass photonics. To evidence the unique properties of transparent glass ceramics we compare spectroscopic and structural properties between the parent glass and the glass ceramics. Starting from planar waveguides we move to spherical microresonators, a very interesting class of photonic confined structures. We also conclude the short review with some remarks about the perspective for glass photonics.

Whispering gallery resonator method for permittivity measurements

The new method of measuring permittivity is described. The measurements are performed using whispering gallery mode open dielectric resonators. The accuracy is assured by applications of the mode matching method. Three resonant modes (HE511, HE611 and HE711) are used in measurement procedure. Accuracy of the method is much better than 0.3% for the relative permittivity having values from 20 to 50.
