Ventilation heat loss in a multifamily building under varying air density

Standards related to calculation methods used in building energy performance simulation tools usually impose constant volumetric heat capacity of air. However, this simplification may result in errors if the actual conditions differ from the assumptions made. The paper presents the problem of dry air density and specific heat capacity variation and their influence on calculated energy use for space heating in a multifamily building. The monthly calculation method of PN-EN ISO 13790 was used. Simulations were performed in five cities, each in one climatic zone according to PN-EN 12831. Variation of the air density caused by air temperature and elevation resulted in differences in calculated heating demand from -4.5% to 4.5% in relation to that at constant volumetric heat capacity assumed in PN-EN ISO 13790.

W artykule określono zależności umożliwiające poprawne wyrażenie iloczynu powierzchni mieszkania i różnicy temperatury (pokrywanej przez całkowity strumień ciepła dostarczanego przez urządzenia c.o.): temperatury powietrza wewnętrznego i średniej temperatury zewnętrznej okresu rozliczeniowego. Opisano metodę przybliżonego określania wartości tego iloczynu, w której uwzględniono zmienność wewnętrznych zysków ciepła w mieszkaniach, ale założono jednakową intensywność ich wentylacji.

In the article, expressions are found enabling correct calculation of flat surface product and the temperature difference (resulting from the total heat flux supplied by the central heating), indoor air temperature and the average outdoor temperature, corresponding to the accounting period. A method for the approximate definition of the value of the product is described taking into account the variability of internal heat gains in the apartments but assuming the same intensity of their ventilation.

Przestawiono sposób obliczania projektowej wentylacyjnej straty ciepła wg normy PN-EN 12831 w przypadku wentylacji naturalnej. Zaprezentowaną metodykę zilustrowano przykładem.

A calculation method of the design ventilation heat loss is presented in the case of the natural ventilation, according to the PN-EN 12831 Standard. An illustrative example of the method is included.
