The paper presents the characteristics of the distance weft knitted fabrics made of the different systems of synthetic yarns: polyamide, polyester and polypropylene, made for garments. In shaping the usability functions, beyond the kind of the raw materials, an important issue is knitted fabrics design solutions. The study included knitted fabrics with distance layer up to 1 mm, and with differences properties of the outer layers of material. In order to determine the expected usability properties of knitted fabrics the metrology tests were made including such parameters as air permeability, hygroscopicity, moisture sorption (absorption time drops, the absorbed volume drops), thermal resistance, water vapor resistance and water vapor permeability.
