Content available remote Microstructural investigation and wear characteristics of Al-Si-Ti cast alloys

Hypoeutectic Al-7Si alloys containing various titanium proportions (0.8–1.6%) were produced and analyzed in this work. The wear characteristics of Al-Si alloys were studied under the conditions of dry sliding at various applied loads. Optical microscope (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to depict the microstructure, worn surface and phases, respectively. Phases of -Al, eutectic and Ti9Al23 were recognized in the Al-Si-Ti alloys matrix. Considerable coarsening took place in -Al and eutectic silicon in a fully eutectic through solidification. The hardness was increased as the titanium proportion increased. Furthermore, significant changes were found in the wear rate depending on the titanium proportion added and load applied.

W artykule dokonano przeglądu parametrów, jakie są uwzględniane przez badaczy procesów zużycia. Przeprowadzona analiza służy określeniu charakteru wpływu analizowanych czynników na wartość zużycia węzła tarciowego. Przedstawiono wpływ mikrostruktury topografii powierzchni charakterystyk materiałowych parametrów procesu na zużycie. Rozważania przeprowadzono pod katem możliwości budowy modelu prognozowania zużycia ciernego.

The papers presents survey of parameters which are considered in research of wear.The anlyses of this parameters was made in order to characterize the factors influences on wear process.It is presented the influence of microstructures surface topography characterictic of materials process parameters of wear.The possibilities of abrasive wear anticipation are consider.

In the paper there are presented test results of model sliding bearings tribological wear with pin made with two-component surface layer steel 34HNM-copper lubricated by clean oil and with aluminium oxide impurities. The reference level was wear of bearing element with pin of steel 34HNM. Bearing bushes were made of MB50 alloy, the pin with two-component surface layer was also tested in cooperation with steel 45. In the case of polluted oil lubrication the wear of pin with two-component surface layer was three times lower than wear of the pin of steel 34 HNM. Anyway the wear of pin modified by cooper cooperating with the bush of steel 34 HNM cooperating with bush of MB50 alloy.
