Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie będącego obecnie w trakcie realizacji, jednego z największych projektów rozbudowy miasta jaki ma miejsce w Skandynawii, znanego pod nazwą Nordhavnen. Artykuł przybliży podstawowe założenia ideowe i strategie projektowe jakie przyświecały autorom wyłonionej w drodze międzynarodowego konkursu pracy, oraz odpowiadające im praktyczne narzędzia urbanistyczne. Artykuł przyjrzy się jak w praktyce wygląda realizacje założeń koncepcyjnych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem terenów zielonych - parków kieszonkowych i tzw. stref buforowych - oraz wodnych - terenów nadbrzeżnych. Przeanalizowane zostaną podstawowe dane powierzchniowe w kontekście ich wpływu i roli w kreowaniu wyżej wymienionych przestrzeni.

The goal of the article is the presentation of one of the largest city expansion projects that are currently being executed in Scandinavia, known as Nordhavnen in Copenhagen. The article will familiarise readers with the basic conceptual assumptions and design strategies that were adopted by the authors of its design, as well as the practical urban planning tools that correspond to them. The article will also explore how the implementation of the conceptual assumptions looks like in practice, with a specific emphasis on green areas - pocket parks and so-called edge zones - and those close to water - waterfronts. Basic data concerning various types of surface area in the context of their impact and role in creating the aforementioned spaces were analysed.

Model actions undertaken in HafenCity and Wilhelmsburg during IBA Hamburg 2006-13 as well as energy transformation of Danish island of Samsø towards self-sufficiency are examples of the use of energy as one of the key factors in the design of revitalization process in various scales. An important issue is to determine the impact of renewable energy systems on design process, architecture and urbanism of revitalized structures. Article examines the programs and projects related to the processes: renewal of degraded inner-industrial areas (brownfields), ecological restoration of degraded land, the revitalization of port and underdeveloped areas in the aspects of climate protection, the use of energy from renewable sources and improvement of technical conditions of building substance while maintaining the principles of sustainable development.

Modelowe działania podejmowane w HafenCity oraz te w ramach IBA-Hamburg 2006-2013 w Wilhelmsburgu jak również transformacja duńskiej wyspy Samsø w samowystarczalną energetycznie mogą stanowić przykłady wykorzystania OZE jako jednego z czynników w projektowaniu procesu rewitalizacji w różnych jej skalach. Istotnym wydaje się określenie wpływu, jaki wywierają systemy wykorzystujące OZE na proces projektowy, architekturę i urbanistykę rewitalizowanych struktur. Artykuł poddaje analizie programy i projekty związane z procesami: odnowy zdegradowanych, poprzemysłowych, rekultywacji terenów zdegradowanych ekologicznie, rewitalizacji obszarów portowych i słabo zurbanizowanych w aspektach ochrony klimatu, zastosowania energii ze źródeł odnawialnych, efektywności energetycznej oraz poprawy warunków technicznych obiektów przy zachowaniu zasad rozwoju zrównoważonego.

The article deals with the problem of arranging waterfront spaces of Wroclaw's water hub. On the grounds of own research of subject literature and historic materials, the author deals with opportunities and directions of Wroclaw's waterfront development. Conclusions suggest solutions related to chosen issues.

Goteborg in Sweden is one of those harbour cities, which development has been determined by the functional issues of waterfront location, being in the past a world famous shipyard centre. Thereby city had remained cut off from the waterfront - in public aspect. Due to establish the sustainable development of the industrial waterfronts and make them accessible the city initiated in late 70-ties a regeneration process. Analysis of the Alvstranden Utveckling process allows to specify it, as a case of the long-term, nonlinear planning process - the comprehensive and successful investment, which is based on wide public participation. A determinant of the regeneration scheme was to take care of history embodied in area due to preserve the identity of developed area and gain the sustainability and high quality environment. The waterfront's public realm has became the functionally attractive and spatial unique. Housing, enterprise, science and commerce are developed besides preserved former shipyard infrastructure. The history is clearly legible in landscape and relationship between the inhabitants and environment is carefully encouraged. Developed waterfronts creates the identity of the entire city, through its significant new, but known expression of landscape.

Rozwój współczesnych miast, potrzeba ich KONKURENCYJNOŚCI, determinuje podstawowe kierunki prowadzenia strategii rozwoju. Ich celem ma się stać odpowiednia JAKOŚĆ struktury miejskiej i jej przestrzeni publicznej. Odzyskiwanie obszarów poportowych umożliwiło przetestowanie zasad polityki zrównoważonego rozwoju w kształtowaniu nowych przestrzeni miejskich. Jako przykład struktury zrównoważonej, posłużyć może transformacja Vastra Hamnen (Port Zachodni) w Malmo ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pilotażowej struktury Bo01. W strukturze tej uzyskano wysokiej jakości przestrzenie publiczne związane z nowym środowiskiem mieszkaniowym dzięki zastosowaniu kryteriów polityki zrównoważonego rozwoju.

The development of contemporary cities and the need for their COMPETITIVENESS determine the basic directions of developmental strategies. Their objective is the suitable QUALITY of an urban structure and its public space. Regaining port areas made it possible to test the principles of the policy of sustainable development in the formation of new urban spaces. A sustainable structure may be exemplified by the transformation of Vastra Hamnen (West Port) in Malmo with special emphasis on the piloting structure of Bo01. This structure gained high-quality public spaces related to a new housing environment owing to the application of the criteria of the policy of sustainable development.
