The paper presents an integrated algorithm for water management analysis enabling the retrofit of existing water network structures both within the feeding subsystem and the treatment subsystem including water regeneration of selected streams. The aim of the developed algorithm is to minimise the fresh water use and wastewater generation. The algorithm worked out by authors consists of three stages. The first and the second stage concerns the water streams allocation within the feeding subsystem and the third one is related to water allocation within the treatment subsystem. The first stage determines possibilities of direct reuse and the second stage defines possibilities of mixed streams reuse applying the ,,nearest source concept". Within the treatment subsystem possibilities of water regeneration of the streams selected according to the pinch point determined analytically are analysed. The third stage includes the selection of suitable treatment options for the specified streams. An advantage of the algorithm is the possibility of applying it to both contaminant-transfer and non contaminant-transfer processes. It also includes mixing options giving the minimal water use. By expanding analysis into the treatment subsystem and including water regeneration possibilities derives benefit in additional water savings can be obtained.
