The possibility of obtaining sorbents from the waste ion exchange resin by using CO2 as a gasifying agent, was investigated. The precursor of the study was Amberjet 1200H waste ion exchange resin. The activation process of the char has been carried out at the temperatures of 800, 850 and 900°C by the use of CO2 as a gasifying agent. The activation time was changed in the range of 15 - 90 min. In the activation process, spherical sorbents with a microporous structure, characterized by a high mechanical strength and a high efficiency of the model contamined water treatment, have been obtained. The studies have shown that the optimal activation conditions are the temperature of 850°C, the activation time 30 min or the temperature of 900°C, the activation time 15 or 30 min.

The deNOx catalysts supported on the chars and activation product obtained from the spent ion exchanger resin has been investigated. The research facilitated the determination of the influence of the quality of the support and the type of the active phase (copper, iron and manganese) on the activity on the catalyst used in SCR reaction. The best deNOx catalyst was CuO/A 800.
