Natural gas in Poland is transported by onshore pipelines with a maximum operating pressure of up to 8.4 MPa. The gas pressure is then reduced to 1.6 MPa or 0.4 MPa for delivery to regional/local distribution networks or to end-user installations. The pressure reduction is usually performed by a pressure regulator. Pressure reduction can also be achieved through expansion of the gas at the turboexpander, which can be harnessed to produce electricity from the recovered mechanical energy of the gas. The main objective of this study is to investigate the factors influencing the efficiency of the gas expansion process and to carry out a feasibility study involving the application of turboexpanders at selected natural gas pressure regulator stations belonging to the Polish transmission system operator Gaz System S.A.

Przedstawiono analizę efektywności wybranych obiegów energetycznych do odzysku energii odpadowej z procesu elektrotermicznego wytopu żelazokrzemu. Uwzględniono parametry spalin pod kołpakiem pieca rezystancyjno-łukowego powstających w wyniku spalania składników gazowych będących produktem ubocznym z procesu wytopu żelazokrzemu FeSi75. Analizie porównawczej poddano dwa obiegi do odzysku energii: obieg z turbiną gazową i częściowym podgrzewem powietrza sprężonego i obieg z kotłem odzyskowym parowym sprzężonym z piecem. Celem analizy jest porównanie efektywności wykorzystania energii odpadowej spalin do wytwarzania energii elektrycznej.

This paper presents an effectivity analysis of selected energy cycles dedicated to waste energy recovery. The study was conducted using process gases from a ferrosilicon melting process in a semi-closed submerged arc furnace. Flue gas parameters from the FeSi75 smelting process combusted inside a semi closed type cap were used in the calculations. The comparative analysis was between two cycles subjected to energy recovery: an externally fired gas turbine cycle, and a steam cycle with a heat recovery boiler coupled to the furnace. The objective of the analysis was to compare the efficiency of electricity production.

The paper presents a proposal of the application of the entropy analysis for the theoretical research of the processes occurring during the thermodynamic transformations taking place in the waste energy recovery systems in marine Diesel power plants. In view of the low exergy of waste energy carriers in these systems it becomes significant to make a proper selection of parameters in the individual points characterising the thermodynamic transformations of the working media. The method as presented herein consists an adaptation of the methods applied in the arrangements of shore power plants to the needs of the marine power plants. This article presents basic relations allowing to determine increments in entropy in the heating steam generation system, as well as the other basic elements forming the waste energy recovery systems in marine power plants. They constitute the basis to evaluate the performance of the individual processes and to disclose the places of occurrence of the major losses and to determine the manners to minimise same. The proposed method may contribute to the reduction of labour consumption of universally applied, traditional methods of searching the effective systems of waste energy recovery in marine Diesel power plants.

W pracy zawarto analizę energochłonności wybranych pieców taśmowych i obrotowych firmy Werner&Pflaiderer. Największą energochłonnością charakteryzowały się piece taśmowe zużywające do produkcji 1źMg pieczywa 1454,1 MJ energii. Przedstawiono koncepcję zmniejszenia zużycia energii poprzez zagospodarowanie energii odpadowej.

The purpose of this paper was to analyze energy consumption volumes in selected Werner & Pfleiderer Company-manufactured tape baking ovens and rotary rack ovens, and to find an explanation for variability of their energy consumption levels. The highest level of energy consumption conveyor stove characterized using 1454,1 MJźMg-1 bakeries Another of its objectives was to elaborate a concept for making use of waste energy produced by baking ovens, which would result in an enhancement of energy carrier consumption effectiveness.
