The article presents considerations on the use of hot dip galvanized reinforcement in facades made of architectural concrete. The structure of a typical zinc coating was described, as well as previous experience related to the use of this type of a reinforcement in the world. The potential benefits and risks associated with the use of galvanized reinforcement are also presented.
Pomiędzy wytworzoną warstwą a podłożem magnezowym, zidentyfikowano cienką strefę przejściową zbudowaną z roztworu stałego cynku w magnezie. Mikrotwardość warstwy wzbogaconej w cynk wynosiła 110-164 HV0,1 i była 4-5 krotnie wyższa w stosunku do mikrotwardości podłoża-magnezu.

A surface layer enriched with zinc was fabricated on a magnesium substrate by thermochemical treatment using a paste containing zinc chloride. Specimens painted with the paste were heated in a chamber furnace at 440oC for 2 h without protective atmosphere. The experimental results showed that the thickness of the alloyed layer was about 200-240 μm. The microstructure of the layer was comprised as eutectoid (an MgZn intermetallic phase + a solid solution of zinc in magnesium) and some dendrites of a solid solution of zinc in magnesium. At the interface between the alloyed layer and the magnesium substrate, there was a zone of a solid solution of zinc in magnesium. The microhardness of the Zn-rich layer was in the range of 110-164 HV0.1 and it was 4-5 times higher than that of the magnesium substrate.

This paper presents actual investigation results of experiment that was oriented to the verification of the possibility of applying zinc on steel surface by blasting technology using zinc-coated cut wire. Suitable method for zinc layers deposition and evaluation of their corrosion resistance was determined. Accelerated laboratory tests with presence of SO2 and long term working tests in atmospheric conditions was used. Creation of incoherent zinc coatings was established on the bases of metallographic and spectral analysis. Process of cold zinc by blasting is able to use as temporary anticorrosion protection of steel surface.

Forming limit curves of deep drawing steel sheets have been determined experimentally and calculated on the base of the material tensile properties folIowing the Hill, Swift, Marciniak-Kuczyński and Sing-Rao methods. Only the FLC modelled from a singly linear forming limit stress curve exhibits good agreement with experimental curve. It was established that a linearized limit stress locus describes adequately the actual localised neck conditions for the material chosen in this study. The quantitative X-ray microanalysis of the Fe contents in the sheet surface layer composition was used to determine cracking limit curve (CLC) of electro-galvanized steel sheet. The change in zinc layer (and base sheet metal) thickness was used as a criteria in calculation of the CLC.
