Determinants of warehouse safety - theory and practice

In every warehouse, processes are carried out that have a static and dynamic character. They take place in a variable environment, which is planned and random, caused by various threats. A helpful tool that allows you to effectively manage warehouse management in a safe way is the analysis of everything that is related to the processes carried out in crisis situations. Previous analyzes conducted in Poland suggested that this area requires further research, which was presented in four sub-chapters: three theoretical and one practical. The aim of the work was to identify and evaluate tools and practices that positively influence safety in warehouses in Poland, in the years 2019-2022. The publication posed: a research problem in the form of a question: to what extent do the functioning technical and non-technical systems affect warehouse management in emergency situations (1)? two research gaps, the first manifests itself in the lack of studies on identifying threats affecting warehouse security, and the second practical, related to the lack of such research (2); hypothesis - identification of threats and technical factors affects warehouse security (3). The research was conducted using a questionnaire, in which threats and factors affecting safety in warehouses were analyzed. The presented results allowed to specify the threats that may appear in warehouse management, assess them and propose technical solutions that affect warehouse security Keywords: warehouse, warehouse processes, threats, security, reliability.

W każdym magazynie są realizowane procesy, które mają charakter statyczny i dynamiczny. Przebiegają one w zmiennym środowisku, mającym charakter planowy i przypadkowy, spowodowany różnymi zagrożeniami. Pomocnym narzędziem pozwalającym skutecznie realizować gospodarkę magazynową w sposób bezpieczny jest analiza tego wszystkiego co związane jest z realizowanymi procesami w sytuacjach kryzysowych. Prowadzone wcześniejsze analizy w warunkach Polski zasugerowały, że obszar ten wymaga dalszych badań, które zostały przedstawione w czterech podrozdziałach: trzy teoretyczne i jeden praktyczny. Celem pracy była identyfikacja i ocena narzędzi oraz praktyk pozytywnie wpływających na bezpieczeństwo w magazynach w Polsce, w latach 2019 -2022. W publikacji postawiono: problem badawczy w postaci pytania: w jakim stopniu funkcjonujące systemy techniczne i pozatechniczne wpływają na gospodarkę magazynową w sytuacjach zagrożeń (1)? dwie luki badawcze, pierwsza przejawia się brakiem opracowań dotyczących identyfikacji zagrożeń mających wpływ na bezpieczeństwo magazynu, a druga praktyczna, związana z niedoborem takich badań (2); hipotezę – identyfikacja zagrożeń i czynników technicznych wpływa na bezpieczeństwo magazynu (3). Badania zostały przeprowadzone za pomocą ankiety, w której analizowano zagrożenia oraz czynniki wpływające na bezpieczeństwo w magazynach. Zaprezentowane wyniki pozwoliły skonkretyzować zagrożenia, które mogą się pojawić w gospodarce magazynowej, dokonać oceny oraz zaproponować rozwiązania techniczne wpływające na bezpieczeństwo magazynów.

The article presents the issues of streamlining the warehouse process on the example of a real warehouse of a company distributing home appliances and electronics. On the basis of the analysis of the functioning warehouse, proposals were made to improve the warehouse process in this company. An extremely important stage of these activities was identification and analysis of warehouse processes of the surveyed enterprise.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę usprawnienia procesu magazynowego na przykładzie rzeczywistego magazynu przedsiębiorstwa dystrybuującego sprzęt AGD i RTV. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy funkcjonującego magazynu opracowano propozycje usprawnienia procesu magazynowego w tym przedsiębiorstwie. Niezwykle ważnym etapem tych działań była identyfikacja i analiza procesów magazynowych badanego przedsiębiorstwa.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane elementy projektu usprawnienia gospodarki paletami w warunkach specyficznych ograniczeń właściwych dla operatora logistycznego. Rozważono alternatywne wprowadzenie palet drewnianych, palet plastikowych o konstrukcji gniazdowej oraz palet plastikowych z RFID. Określono liczbowe oraz trudno mierzalne kryteria oceny, przedstawiono zestawienie ich wartości dla wszystkich wariantów usprawnienia badanego systemu. Dokonano porównania wariantów, wskazano preferowany wariant usprawnienia systemu gospodarki paletami.

The article covers the selected elements of the project of the improvement of the pallets distribution, exposed to the specific limitations typical of logistic operator. The alternative implementation of wooden pallets has been considered as well as the nestable plastic pallets or RFID plastic pallets. The evaluation criteria have been established and the figures have been listed for all the improvement options of the studied system. The comparison of mentioned options has been made and a specific option of the pallets distribution improvement has been favored.

Podstawę analizy artykułu stanowią wyniki badania typu case study, przeprowadzonego wśród operatorów wózków widłowych, logistyków oraz koordynatorów ds. logistyki, w magazynie wybranego przedsiębiorstwa. Przedmiotem badania był wózek widłowy typu TFG 430S. Celem badania było wyeliminowanie czynników, wydłużających czas rozładunku dostaw w procesie przyjęcia towaru analizowanego magazynu. Przedstawiono szczegółowo cały proces przyjęcia dostawy uwzględniając, cykl pracy wózka widłowego, począwszy od zarejestrowania dostawy, dostarczenia niezbędnych dokumentów, po rozładunek, skanowanie, kontrolę ilościową i jakościową oraz składowanie. Wyniki badania pokazały, na którym etapie rozładunku, dochodzi do jego przerwania lub zatrzymania, dostarczyły istotnych informacji sygnalizujących, obszary wymagające ścisłej kontroli Koordynatora ds. Logistyki, skorygowania przyzwyczajeń operatorów z długoletnim stażem, czy poprawy stanowisk roboczych.

The basis for the analysis of the article are the results of the case study, carried out among forklift trucks operators, logistics, and coordinator logistics in the warehouse of a described company. The subject of the research it the forklift truck type 430S. The objective of the research to was eliminate the factors that extended the time of unloading deliveries in the process of receipt of goods of the analyzed warehouse. The article present in detail in the process of receipt of goods including the work cycle of the forklift truck, starting with the registering of the delivery, necessary documents, through unloading, scanning, quantity and quality control and storage of goods. The results of the study show at which stage unloading is interrupted or stopped. The research provided the important information about the areas requiring strict control of the Logistics Coordinator and the need of correcting the habits of operators with long-standing experience or improving work stations.

W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe założenia do konstruowania i prezentacji procesów magazynowych w różnych typach obiektów logistycznych. Proces magazynowy rozumiany i odwzorowywany jest, jako sekwencja faz magazynowania, zadań magazynowych, zestawów operacji magazynowych, operacji oraz czynności. Ich struktura, jak również sposób i zakres realizacji zależą od rodzaju obiektu logistycznego i postaci oraz zakresu jego zadania logistycznego. Podstawowe założenia przedstawione w referacie zostaną wykorzystane do budowy matematycznych modeli symulacyjnych przepływu materiałów w określonych typach obiektów logistycznych.

Paper presents basic assumptions for modelling warehouse processes in different types of logistic facilities. These processes are mapped as sequences of warehousing phases, warehouse tasks, material transformations, warehouse operations and activities. Their structure, as well as manner and range of implementation are dependent on type of logistic facility and its main logistic task. Basic assumptions presented in the paper will be used to build a mathematical simulation model of the materials flow in certain types of logistics facilities.

W artykule przedstawiono opracowanie projektu dwóch wariantów (ręcznego i automatycznego) podsystemu konfekcjonowania w istniejącym magazynie dystrybucyjnym. Artykuł obejmuje określenie zadania logistycznego, identycznego dla obu badanych wariantów; ukształtowanie i zwymiarowanie ww. wariantów podsystemu konfekcjonowania; porównanie tych wariantów projektowych oraz wnioski. Określono liczbowe kryteria oceny, przedstawiono zestawienie ich wartości dla obu wariantów podsystemu konfekcjonowania. Dokonano porównania wariantów, wskazano preferowany wariant realizacji podsystemu konfekcjonowania.

This paper presents a project of two variants (manual and automatic) of kitting subsystem in the existing distribution warehouse. The paper includes the determination of the logistical task for a kitting subsystem, identical for both analyzed variants; configuration and dimensioning of these kitting subsystem variants; as well as comparison of project’s variants and conclusions. The criteria for the evaluation of design solutions were defined and summarized for both variants of kitting subsystem. These variants were compared then a preferred kitting subsystem due to the selected criteria was indicated.

Celem artykułu była optymalizacja procesów magazynowych w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie. Problem badawczy wyrażony w formie pytania to: Jaki wpływ ma odpowiednie zagospodarowanie przestrzeni użytkowej magazynu w przedsiębiorstwie X na efektywność realizowanych procesów magazynowych? Podczas opracowania tego artykułu wykorzystano następujące metody badawcze, takie jak: analiza literatury i dokumentów przedsiębiorstwa, synteza, wnioskowanie oraz narzędzie badawcze, jakim była analiza wskaźnikowa. Artykuł składa się ze wstępu kreślącego ideę rozważań problemów podjętych w opracowaniu, części głównej dotyczącej ujęcia teoretycznego systemu magazynowania, charakterystyki przedsiębiorstwa, analizy i oceny zagospodarowania przestrzeni użytkowej magazynu przedsiębiorstwa X oraz koncepcji poprawiającej efektywność eksploatowanego magazynu.

The aim of the article was to optimize warehouse processes in the selected company. The research problem is expressed in the form of a question is: What impact has the appropriate use of space usable storage in the enterprise X on the effectiveness of the processes of storage? During the development of this article we use the following research methods such as literature analysis and business documents, synthesis, reasoning and research tool, which was a ratio analysis. The article consists of an introduction describing a trajectory idea reflection of concerns in the development, part of the main theoretical approach on the storage system, the characteristics of the company, analysis and evaluation of the development of usable storage company X and the concept of improving the efficiency of operated warehouse.

Artykuł poświęcony jest metodą heurystycznym w zadaniu optymalizacji procesów magazynowych. Ze względu na dużą złożoność procesów zachodzących w magazynie aby dobrze opisać i oszacować te procesy tradycyjne metody analizy danych nie spełniają swojego zastosowania. W celu agregacji reguł postępowania i znalezienie jak najlepszych czyli optymalnych procesów magazynowych autor zaproponował metodę heurystyczną. W tym celu zostały przedstawione kolejne etapy tworzenia modelu w programie AnyLogic. Pozwala to na budowę modelu magazynu oraz poprzez parametryzowanie jego czynników szukanie najlepszych rozwiązań. Metoda oparta na heurystykach mająca zastosowanie w programie AnyLogic pozwala na tworzeni optymalnych rozwiązań oraz wskazuje na wąskie gardła jakie mogą pojawić się przy równych obciążeniach systemu.

The article is devoted to the heuristic method in the task of optimizing warehouse processes. Due to the high complexity of the processes in the warehouse, in order to describe and evaluate these processes well, traditional data analysis methods do not meet their application. In order to aggregate the rules of conduct and find the best or optimal warehouse processes, the author proposed a heuristic method. For this purpose, the next steps in creating a model in AnyLogic were presented. This allows you to build a warehouse model and by parameterizing its factors to find the best solution. AnyLogic's heuristic-based heuristics method makes it possible to create optimal solutions and pinpoint the bottlenecks that can occur with equal load on the system.

The basis of each IT system is data exchange both between individual modules of program and between program and user. The number of exchanged data and the number of operations on the data, which should be performed, require application of professional tools allowing for collecting and performing operations on multiple types of data. One of these tools are databases, which are an essential part of any IT system. With database designing are connected many decision problems which can occur both during the construction of database management system and at the stage of integration of entire user application with developed database. The article presents typical decision problems connected with designing of databases. These problems mainly concern sphere of information technology (including the programming language or recovery mechanism of database after the failure). Database architecture for typical IT system from the point of view possible paths for users were discussed, and role of catalogues played in development of database were presented. In addition, modular structure of the database, which was developed for the system SIMMAG3D for modelling and visualization of warehouse facilities in 3D was shown. This system is being developed under a project financed by the National Centre for Research and Development. We discussed in detail one of the essential elements in developed database - catalogues of means of external and internal transport, non-mechanical equipment and accessories which are essential from the point of view of the work load.

Niniejszy artykuł ma za celu zapoznać ze stanem pododdziałowych magazynów broni, oraz przedstawić nieefektywnie realizowany proces przyjmowania i wydawania. Zostaną przedstawione wady aktualnych procedur oraz możliwe rozwiązanie zauważonego problemu, którego wdrożenie i wykorzystanie mogłoby skutkować znacznym usprawnieniem funkcjonowania. Przeprowadzona dyskusja nad zasadnością wdrożenia technologii RFID jako metody automatycznej identyfikacji przedstawi jego słabe i mocne strony oraz pozamilitarne zastosowania.

This article is intended to refer with the state military weapon storage and provide ineffectively implemented the process of receiving and dispensing weapons. It will be presented disadvantages of the current solutions and the possible solution of the problem observed fact that the implementation and use could result in a significant improvement of the functioning of such storage. Conducted a discussion on the legitimacy of the implementation of RFID technology as a method of automatic identification will present its strengths and weaknesses and non-military applications.

Jakość i logistyka to dwa obszary zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem, które wspólnie się przenikają i wspierają wpływając na wzrost konkurencyjności całego łańcucha dostaw. Pomimo tego analiza literatury przedmiotu pozwala stwierdzić, że wciąż brakuje badań dotyczących wpływu koncepcji zarządzania jakością na usprawnianie poszczególnych procesów logistycznych. W związku z powyższym celem niniejszej publikacji jest zbadanie wpływu systemu zarządzania jakością według normy ISO 9001 na doskonalenie i usprawnianie procesów magazynowych. Badaniami empirycznymi prowadzonymi we wrześniu i październiku 2014 roku objęto 17 przedsiębiorstw posiadających wdrożony i certyfikowany system zarządzania jakością według normy ISO 9001. Proces badawczy pozwolił stwierdzić, że istnieje znaczny związek miedzy implementacją wymagań normy ISO 9001, a doskonaleniem i organizacją prac w magazynach oraz, że wdrożenie normy ISO 9001 ułatwia kontakt z klientami wewnętrznymi oraz zewnętrznymi.

Quality and logistics are two areas of business management, which together to penetrate and support through its impact on the growth of competitiveness of the entire supply chain. Despite this, an analysis of the literature shows that still lacks studies on the effects of quality management concept for improving individual logistics processes. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to examine the impact of the quality management system according to ISO 9001 to improve and streamline warehouse processes. Empirical research conducted in September and October 2014, it was extended 17 companies have implemented and certified quality management system according to ISO 9001. The research process has allowed concluded that there is a significant relationship between the implementation of the requirements of ISO 9001, and the improvement and organization of work in warehouses and that the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard facilitates contact with internal and external customers.

The proper warehouse management strongly affects the condition of the company. The paper describes a way to reorganize the input storage layout of steel raw materials of the company that specializes in manufacturing large-size products. In particular, the existing state of the store and next three new conceptions were presented. Attention was paid to the storage area intended for the steel sheets. Some alternative variants of horizontal and vertical steel sheets storing and means of the internal transport were considered in these new solutions. The most important criteria for choosing a solution for implementation were also presented. The designed layout of the magazine, compared to the existing state, enables the elimination of waste associated with the available capacity, reduce time and cost associated with the involvement of the means of production and human resources.
