Shigeru Ban -Japanese architect born in Tokyo in 1957, former assistant to Arata Isozald & Associates. In 1985 established his own practice - Shigeru Ban Architects - based in Tokyo as well. For the most part Shigeru's office focuses on small buildings but also participates in global scale, large architectural enterprises such as the New Your World Trade Center Competition where he was awarded second prize. In his residential architecture Shigeru promotes and develops his own idea of universal floor. His practical approach to architecture and its results can serves as an argument in the discussion on whether architecture is art.
