Comments concerning determination of flexibility of spark ignition combustion engines

The following paper presents topics related to determination of dynamic properties of multi-point injection petrol engine, which obviously influence dynamics of vehicle propelled with such engine. These properties, determined on analytical way using engine's flexibility factor, where compared with simulations based on Leidemann's equations. It has been stated, that using proper factors in mentioned equations can result in reliable results with no need to carry out the inconvenient engine benchmarks. Some cases where however found in tested group of engines, in which traditional method of flexibility estimation where not effective enough. Such case is presented further in this paper together with suggestion of new approach to this problem.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę badań właściwości dynamicznych silnika wpływających w oczywisty sposób na dynamikę pojazdu napędzanego przez ten silnik. Porównano te właściwości określane na drodze analitycznej poprzez współczynnik elastyczności silnika z symulacyjnymi badaniami rozpędzania pojazdu, który on napędza, przy założeniu stałego przełożenia w układzie napędowym. Założenie to potrzebne jest dla wyeliminowania szeregu zmiennych czynników występujących w trakcie rozpędzania pojazdu. Uznano, że dla tego celu najbardziej przydatnym jest bieg bezpośredni, gdyż można wtedy porównywać własności dynamiczne uzyskane z badań symulacyjnych z własnościami określonymi przez współczynnik elastyczności, które są niezależne od czynnika czasu rozpędzania silnika. Również bieg bezpośredni bywa używany dla określenia elastyczności silników czołgowych. Chodzi zatem o znalezienie jednego miernika tych właściwości poprzez określenie wzajemnych relacji pomiędzy stosowanymi dotychczas miarami.

The following paper deals with the problem of research made over the dynamic properties of engine, which influences, what seems to be obvious, the dynamics of vehicle driven with the engine. The properties estimated using analytic methods including coefficient of engine's flexibility, were compared with simulations of accelerating of vehicle, propelled by the engine,assuming a constant ratio in power transmission system. This assumption is necessary to eliminate a number of factors occuring during the acceleratio of vehicle. Direct gear has been assumed as most suitable for comparison of dynamic properties given by simulations with those defined by the flexibility coefficient, which don't depend on time of engine's acceleration. The direct gear is also used to determine the flexibility of tank engines. The problem is to find the one meterfor before mentioned properties, by defining relationships between recently used measures.
