Face recognition systems based on visual images have reached a significant level of maturity with some practical success. However, the performance of visual face recognition may degrade under poor illumination conditions and in completely darkness. Infrared images represent a viable alternative to visible images in the search for practical face recognition. In the article, we investigate the face recognition scheme where category of identified face images differs from that stored in face database. CCA (Canonical Correlation Analysis) method is used to build face recognition system with using visual and infrared images. Next, we considered three scenarios for this kind of system: during a day, at night and at dusk. We presented CCA method for this system that is proper for this tasks the schemes of scenario and examples of their working.

Content available remote Decision fusion based on voting scheme for IR and visible face recognition

In this paper we present an evaluation study of decision fusion strategies for infrared (IR) and visible face recognition. Several decision fusion methods based on a voting scheme (minimization, product and averaging) are discussed, and experiments for various conditions of probe and gallery sets are performed on two databases with paired IR and visible face imageries. The Eigenfaces and Fisherface classification techniques are used to extract the face features, and the performance of fusion methods on both classification approaches is discussed.

The study aimed at finding out the effect of linearly polarized visible radiation on linear growth, biomass and sporulation in entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. The short (two-hours) exposure of entomopathogenic fungus B. basiana spore suspension to linearly polarized light may cause the fungus culture growth stimulation, especially obtained fungus sporulation, which may be used for commercial propagation of this beneficial microorganism.

Zbadano wpływ światła widzialnego liniowo spolaryzowanego na owadobójczy grzyb Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. Krótka (dwugodzinna) ekspozycja zawiesiny zarodników owadobójczego grzyba B. bassiana na światło liniowo spolaryzowane może powodować stymulację hodowli grzyba w zakresie wzrostu, a szczególnie uzyskiwanego zarodnikowania grzyba, co może być wykorzystywane w komercyjnym namnażaniu tego pożytecznego mikroorganizmu.

During the past decade, group III-Nitride wide bandgap semiconductors have become the focus of extremely intensive reearch because of their exceptional physical properties and their high potential for use in countless numbers of applications. Nearly all aspects have been investigated, from the fundamental physical understanding of these materials to the development of the fabrication technology and demonstration of commercial devices. The purpose of this paper is to review the physical properties of III-Nitrides, their areas of application, the current status of the material technology (AlN, AlGaN, GaN, GaInN) including synthesis and processing. The state-of-the-art of III-Nitride material quality, as well as the devices which have been demonstrated, including electronic devices, AlxGa₁-xN ultraviolet photoconductors, ultraviolet photodiodes, visible light emitting diodes (LEDs) and ultraviolet - blue laser diodes, will also be presented.
