In order to study the characteristics of mixed vessel traffic flow, based on classical head distance model and probability analysis, by studying the combination time head way of different vessel-following sequences, the capacity model of mixed vessels traffic flow was established. Through analyzing two representative types of vessels, research results indicate that the capacity of mixed traffic increase with the traffic flow speed in a certain speed range, but the increasing trend slow down. The closer length and inertial stopping distance of different kind vessels are, the more capacity of mixed traffic increases. And the influence of reaction time on the capacity is related to proportion of different kind vessels.

The paper presents the method of determining ships traffic stream parameters by means of regression method. The aim of the studies was to determine the correlation between the ship's parameters and the parameters of the fairway. Developing the presented model with information on the position of the vessel's antenna and information on the accuracy of position determination will allow creating a model for predicting the parameters of waterways.

Vessel traffic flow is a key parameter for channel-through capacity and is of great significance to vessel traffic management, channel and port design and navigational risk evaluation. Based on the study of parameters of characteristics of vessel traffic flow related to channel-through capacity, this paper puts forward a brand-new mathematical model for one-way channel-through capacity in which parameters of channel length, vessel arrival rate and velocity difference in different vessels are involved and a theoretical calculating mechanism for the channel-through capacity is provided. In order to verify availability and reliability of the model, extensive simulation studies have been carried out and based on the historical AIS data, an analytical case study on the Xiazhimen Channel validating the proposed model is presented. Both simulation studies and the case study show that the proposed model is valid and all relative parameters can be readjusted and optimized to further improve the channel-through capacity. Thus, all studies demonstrate that the model is valuable for channel design and vessel management.

W artykule omówiona została koncepcja wyznaczania rozkładu prawdopodobieństwa czynnika regulującego wyjście statków z portu Szczecin. Wykorzystując rozkład czasu pomiędzy kolejnymi jednostkami opuszczającymi port w Szczecinie, wyznaczony na podstawie danych systemu VTS, oraz rozkład wykładniczy, odpowiadający losowemu strumieniowi ruchu statków, wyznaczono funkcje gęstości czasu przyspieszenia lub opóźnienia wyjścia statku, w stosunku do losowego strumienia ruchu. Wykorzystano w tym celu procedurę splotu funkcji gęstości zmiennych losowych.

In this paper a conception of determination of the probability distribution of the factor which modulates vessel traffic flow after departure from the port of Szczecin, has been presented. Using the time distribution between ships leaving port Szczecin, determined on the basis of VTS system, and theoretical exponential distribution of the time between reporting vessels in the random traffic flow, the probability density function of quickening or delaying ship departing from port, considering random vessel traffic flow, has been determined. To that end a procedure of convolution has been used.

The present article concerns a problem of vessel speed modeling in restricted areas, where vessel traffic flow is disturbed. In analysis of vessel speed on the Świnoujście–Szczecin fairway, division into the particular ship types has been made. Probability distributions describing speed of different ship groups have been analysed. Using the chi-square goodness-of-fit test it has been showed that the best distribution describing vessel speed of the most ship groups, is the Gumbel distribution.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania średniej gęstości okresowej strumienia statków na torze wodnym. Wyznaczono gęstość strumienia na odcinku toru wodnego Szczecin - Świnoujście, w różnych okresach roku. Wykorzystano w tym celu dane z systemu nadzoru i regulacji ruchu VTS Szczecin. Ponadto zbadano hipotezę o typie rozkładu prawdopodobieństwa, opisującego badaną gęstość strumienia ruchu statków.

In this paper a determination method of periodical vessel traffic flow density has been presented. The vessel traffic flow density, in different periods on the Szczecin - Świnoujście fairway, has been determined. To achieve this goal data from VTS Szczecin, have been used. The hypothesis about Poissonian character of periodical vessel traffic flow density has been verified.
