W pracy zaprezentowano przykłady kątów pokutnych w wiejskich domach Białostocczyzny, zinwentaryzowane przez studentów Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Białostockiej w 2013 roku. Materiał inwentaryzacyjny opatrzono komentarzem krytycznym, interpretując współczesne pokucia podbiałostockich domów wiejskich jako relikty dawnej obrzędowości podtrzymane dziś, a nawet estetycznie rozwinięte dzięki nowym wzorcom technologiczno-estetycznym.

“Sacred corners” (traditional ceremonial corners in the interiors of country houses) can still be found in country houses in the region of Białystok. A number of such corners have been recognized and studied by the students of Faculty of Architecture, Białystok University of Technology, in 2013, and the results of the study have been presented in the paper with the proper critical comments. We interpret these contemporary “sacred corners” as relics of ancient ceremonial rites, fostered by the modern technology-supported aesthetics.

W 2013 roku zrealizowano kolejną sesję badań terenowych we wsiach Białostocczyzny (w północno-wschodniej Polsce). Ich celem było pozyskanie aktualnych informacji o ludowych tradycjach w zakresie wystroju i aranżacji wnętrz wiejskich domów mieszkalnych (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem domów starych). Zebrano sporo istotnych poznawczo informacji, zwłaszcza graficznych, takich jak fotografie i rysunki inwentaryzacyjne. W artykule przedstawiono niektóre wyniki badań wraz z próbą ich interpretacji. Artykuł zakończono konkluzją o stopniowym zanikaniu na badanym terenie tradycyjnej semantyki wnętrza domu i dawnych wzorców kształtowania wnętrz mieszkalnych, co jednak – paradoksalnie – świadczy o zaskakującej żywotności tychże wzorców, jako że ich relikty wciąż jeszcze występują, pomimo zaniku w innych regionach kraju. W związku z powyższym w artykule zasygnalizowano możliwości i potrzeby oraz szczegółowe obszary dalszych badań tych reliktów, dopóki jeszcze występują.

Field surveys were performed in a number of villages in the region of Białystok, N-E Poland, in 2013. The surveys aimed at collecting data related to the present-day state of vernacular traditions in old home interior arrangement in the region. Consecutively, the surveys have resulted in collecting a substantial amount of graphic data, including photographs and drawings of home interiors. The selected data are studied and interpreted in the article. The outwardly obvious general conclusion is that traditional home arrangement patterns and their semantics have been continuously vanishing at that territory. Nevertheless, it also proves, paradoxically, that these patterns and semantics have had surprisingly strong influence, as their vanishing relics are still alive in some parts of the region, in spite of the fact that the similar vernacular home interior arrangement patterns have ceased to exist in other regions of the country. Therefore, the needs for further investigations of those relics are pointed and the related study areas are also defined.

W 2014 roku zrealizowano kolejną sesję badań terenowych we wsiach Białostocczyzny. W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki pomiarów i rysunków inwentaryzacyjnych pięciu domów we wsi Olendy w gminie Rudka, z próbą ich oceny i interpretacji. Celem tak przedsięwziętych i zaprezentowanych tu badań jest także ocena specyfiki przestrzeni architektonicznej badanej wsi Olendy – w tym ocena wartości architektury rodzimej, wernakularnej, wyrosłej z tradycji i zakorzenionej w miejscu i czasie, a także ocena specyfiki wnętrza domu. Okazuje się bowiem, że olendzkie domy akumulują od ponad półwiecza rozmaite estetyki i wzorce komponowania wnętrz, co owocuje niezwykłym konglomeratem architektonicznym, jakim jest współczesne wnętrze tradycyjnego olendzkiego domu; także strychulcowa konstrukcja i rozbudowane systemy piecowo- -kominowe dopełniają wrażenia ich swoistej „egzotyki”.

Field surveys were performed in a number of villages in the region of Bialystok, N-E Poland in 2014. The results are presented and analyzed, with the research focus on five houses in Olendy village, Rudka commune. Their drawings and selected photographs are included, as well. The objective is to assess the uniqueness of their architecture and interiors in terms of vernacular architectural heritage and traditions. The houses in Olendy have been accumulating various aesthetic patterns since the last 50 to 70 years, resulting with an unusual and curious medley of architectural aesthetics of their interiors. Moreover, their obsolete wattle-and-daub construction of walls, as well as their huge stoves, supplement that medley, resulting with a feeling of an „exotics” of these specific vernacular houses.
