A Fingerprint-Based Digital Images Watermarking for Identity Authentication

In this paper the combination of fingerprint verification methods with watermarking technology to provide copyright protection and authentication of digital images is proposed. The goal of this study is to investigate how watermarking processing affects the quality of biometric watermarks. Performed experiments showed that extracted fingerprint images have roughly equal verification performance even if some watermarked images undergo additional degradation. Proposed methodology will be improved using more sophisticated fingerprint verification methods and subsequently incorporated into multimodal watermarking schemes.

Methods for determining masonry walls fire resistance

In the paper, the general procedures for masonry wall design in fire situations are presented together with methods for determining the fire resistance according to EN 1996-1-2 [1] and its Polish version, PN-EN 1996-1-2 [2]. Special attention is paid to the practical application of presented methods (tabulated data and simplified methods based on reduced cross-section) and to pointing out possible problems and shortcomings. There is also brief comments on the process of introducing Euro code 6 (EN 1996-1-1 [3], EN 1996-1-2 [1]) for the design of masonry structures in Polish practice (codes: PN-EN 1996-1-1 [4], PN-EN 1996-1-2 [2]).

W artykule przedstawiono metody weryfikacji odporności ogniowej ścian murowych według normy EN 1996-1-2 [1] i jej polskiej wersji PN-EN 1996-1-2 [2]. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na praktyczne aspekty stosowania opisanych metod (danych tabelarycznych, uproszczonych metod bazujących na przekroju zredukowanym), wskazując ich potencjalne niedostatki. Skomentowano także proces wprowadzania normy Eurokod 6 (EN 1996-1-1 [3], EN 1996-1-2 [1]) do projektowania konstrukcji murowych do polskiej praktyki projektowej (normy: PN-EN 1996-1-1 [4], PN-EN 1996-1-2 [2]).

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie określania odporności ogniowej ścian murowych. Podano podstawowe wymagania właściwości użytkowych dla konstrukcji murowych w warunkach pożarowych, metody analizy konstrukcji oraz szczegółowe procedury projektowania według PN-EN 1996-1-2 (na podstawie danych tabelarycznych, uproszczonych i zaawansowanych inżynierskich metod obliczeniowych oraz badań ogniowych ścian). Przedstawiono także wyniki badań doświadczalnych ścian z elementów murowych ceramicznych, silikatowych i elementów z keramzytobetonu przeprowadzonych w krajowych i zagranicznych laboratoriach akredytowanych (ITB Warszawa-Polska, MPA Brunszwik-Niemcy, FIRES - Batizovce, Słowacja), analizując uzyskane wyniki pod kątem wymagań normy PN-EN 1996-1-2.

In the paper there are presented questions of determination of fire resistance for walls made of masonry elements. There are given the basic requirements for properties of masonry structures, methods of analysis for structures in fire conditions and detailed design procedures according to PN-EN 1996-1-2 (based on tabulated data, simplified and advanced calculations or fire tests for elements). Tests descriptions and results of fire resistance for wall elements carried out in different laboratories (ITB Warszawa - Poland, MPA Braunschweig - Germany, FIRES - Batizovce, Slovakia) are included and commented within the light of code PN-EN 1996-1-2 requirements.
