Content available remote Modelling for sound annoyance evaluation of vehicle noise based on neural network
EN
Based on the neural network (NN) technique, a new sound quality evaluation (SQE) model for synthetical annoyance of vehicle noises is proposed in this paper. Based on the measured noise signals of a sample vehicle, the psychoacoustical models for loudness, sharpness and roughness are investigated. Annoyance values of the measured vehicle noises are estimated by a jury test following an anchor-scaled scoring method. A NN-based model for annoyance evaluation of vehicle noise, so-called VNA-NNM, is carried out. Finally, the VNA-NNM model is verified by the leave-one-out algorithm. The results suggest that the VNA-NNM model is accurate and effective for estimating sound quality of vehicle interior noises, which is instructive and useful for vehicle acoustical designs.

Zaproponowano model oceny jakości dźwięku i rozdrażnienia dźwiękiem szumu samochodowego. Model bazuje na sieciach neuronowych i wykorzystuje zmierzony sygnał szumu samochodowego oraz model psychoakustyczny.

Vehicle noise depends on the characteristics of tires and the conditions of the road surface. In the autumn/winter and the winter/spring seasons road surfaces are often damp or wet. Except for the road safety the wet pavement has significant influence on the vehicle noise. The vehicle noise was tested using Controlled Pass-By method (CPB) on dry and wet road surfaces constructed of asphalt concrete, stone mastic asphalt (SMA) and paving stones. Supplementary measurements of noise level on the SMA surface were conducted employing the Statistical Pass-By method (SPB) relating to the passenger cars and the multiple-axle heavy vehicles (vehicle of 2B category). The values of difference of the statistical car noise level in the third-octave spectra range in the function of car speed on wet and dry SMA surfaces have been determined.

Content available remote Effects of traffic composition on noise generated by typical Brazilian roads
EN
The effects of traffic composition on the noise generated by typical Brazilian roads are analyzed in this work Composition is defined as the percentage of heavy vehicles (trucks and buses) with respect to the overall number of vehicles. Noise measurements were made at 10 m from lane edges of three typical roads at the city of Florianópolis, SC. All sites had indentical characteristics, such us, long and horizontal straights, free of reflections from buildings and walls, traffic flowing average speed of 80 km/h, and distant from traffic lights and round abouts. Measurements were made on the same days of the week and at the same time (from 06:00 to 10:10 h). On these three roads a total of 149 measurements were made and for each of them the percentile level L10 and the equvalent level Leq were calculated. These levels were plotted against the composition of the traffic from which were obtained empirical expressions, with reasonably good correlation indexes, which can be used for predicting road traffic noise levels based on the knowledge of traffic parameters. Information obtained in this work will help authorities to foresee the response of communities to typical Brasilian road traffic noise.
