The article presents the concept of a maintenance-free inspection station intended for conducting drive-thru tests of commercial vehicles. The main purpose of building this type of diagnostic line is to carry out non-invasive, preliminary tests of heavy-duty vehicles entering the vehicle service area in terms of parameters affecting the safety of their operation in relation to the applicable standards. The main parameter to be assessed will be the concentration of toxic exhaust components, measured using remote sensing methods. In addition, the proposed diagnostic line can be supplemented with additional remote measurement systems, such as, for example, systems for assessing the condition of vehicle lighting, loads on individual axles and individual wheels of the vehicle, tire pressure, thermal load of the brake system, as well as a system for detecting leaks of fluids from the vehicle. Based on the carried out work, it has been shown that using the current specialist knowledge and the components of measurement systems available on the market, it is possible to develop an innovative diagnostic line using remote measurement methods.

W artykule przedstawiono krytyczną ocenę powypadkowych badań pojazdu w zakresie sposobów wykonywania próby hamowania i obliczania opóźnienia hamowania na podstawie wyników uzyskanych w takiej próbie. Wykazano, że obliczanie opóźnienia na podstawie próby hamowania wykonanej bez użycia urządzenia mierzącego parametry ruchu pojazdu niesie za sobą ryzyko popełnienia dużego błędu. Na zakończenie zaprezentowano przykładowe urządzenia, jakie mogą i w ocenie autora powinny być stosowane w czasie powypadkowych badań pojazdu.

The aim of the paper is to present a critical evaluation of post-accident inspection of a vehicle in the aspect of braking tests performance methods and braking deceleration calculation based on the results of these tests. It has been demonstrated that deceleration calculation on the basis of a braking test performed with no instrument measuring vehicle motion parameters entails a risk of making a grave error. Some examples of the instrumentation that can and should, in the author’s opinion, be used in post-accident inspection of a vehicle have been presented.

Minie wkrótce 6 lat od opublikowania dyrektywy Parlamentu Europejskiego dotyczącej okresowych badań zdatności do ruchu drogowego pojazdów silnikowych i ich przyczep. W Polsce powinna obowiązywać od maja 2018 roku, ale... W połowie grudnia 2018 roku było już blisko wprowadzenia nowych zasad funkcjonowania w Polsce stacji kontroli pojazdów, jednak tuż przed ich uchwaleniem wycofano projekt nowelizacji stosownych ustaw. Wiele wskazuje na to, że rząd wraca do niezrealizowanego pomysłu.

Position for Inspection Wear measurement of a vehicle brake shoe is an effective way to enhance the vehicle safety. The continuous measurement problem of the abrasion loss of a brake shoe is solved by employing an electronic chip with series circuit. The quasi-linear solution is achieved by simulating the constructed model of the resistances distribution. Furthermore, the optimal location for the inspection is formulated by analyzing the brake kinematics. Simulations are performed on the representative conditions and agree to the experiments with an acceptable 0.1 V error.

The article presents the results of investigations concerning the relations between the technical state of cars and the exhaust gasses emission for different groups of vehicles. First, the measurements of the test group of4000 different vehicles have been made. Those measurements have been elaborated in order to define typical damages of vehicles. The percentage of faulty vehicles and the type of faults was estimated. The damages of vehicles have been carried out using typical diagnostic methods, electrical value measurements and exhaust gasses analysis. Those measurements also provided information about the number of vehicles with high level of gas emission. The results of investigations were compared to the requirements of each model of a given year. Next, the measurements of the test group of 1000 vehicles have been made in accordance with ECE Regulations and the methodology of periodical car inspection. Those measurements also gave information about the level of emission from each vehicle. The results of investigations were compared to the requirements of each model of a given year and the percentage of high polluting vehicles has been presented. The vehicles have been divided into different exhaust emission legislation classes. Next, the relation between the number of faulty vehicles and the level of exhaust emission for the first and the second group of vehicles has been elaborated and presented. The results of investigations and analysis show the number of faulty vehicles and its influence on the level of emission.

This article presents the results of investigations regarding the use of on-board diagnostic systems to assess the technical state of automotive vehicles, and the possibilities of early fault detecting. The examinations were carried out in order to establishifit is possible to evaluate the level of compatibility between diagnostic test units and on-board diagnostic systems in over three hundred models of vehicles which were produced by different manufactures. The investigations concerning the influence of examination conditions, the type of faults and the vehicle age upon the results and reliability of diagnostic tests were carried out. The suitability of fault codes which were recorded in the memory of diagnostic system while the vehicle was operating have been determined as far as the recognition of the type of faults is concerned. Additionally, the examinations of engine on a test stand were carried out as well. Sensitivity of diagnostic systems was tested regarding the changes of work parameters of the engine. The faults of engine were deliberately provoked and were examined at the early stage by on-board diagnostic systems. The test results show that there is a necessity of elaborating new diagnosing methods enabling to find damages regarding safety in road traffic.

This paper considers the results of studies on examination methods in scope of environmental protection such as exhaust emission, fuel consumption and noise emission. The reduction of exhaust gas emission of modern compression and spark ignition engines requires an optimization ofexisting diagnosing methods as well as the investigation of new approaches. The results of car inspections regarding environmental protection for more than four thousand vehicles have been compared to the requirements of ECE regulations and those of particular car producers. Eight hundred cars with a fault of gas emission and fuel consumption were examined in order to define typical damages. The possibilities of diagnosing the damages of mechanical and electrical systems of the engine have been carried out using electrical value measurements and exhaust gases analysis. The test results show that there is a necessity of elaborating new diagnosing methods enabling to find damages regarding exhaust emission and fuel consumption at their initial stage. One of the possible methods which could be applied is the evaluation of the quality of combustion process considering the values of parameters of engine performance coming from the detectors mounted to the engine. The so far carried out examinations have revealed that some mechanical damages of engines such as operating wear or unexpected faults do not make the diagnosing system react to the information.

The paper concerns methodology of operation verification on board diagnostics systems OBD II / EOBD owing to the chassis dynamometer test and in the real condition maintenance in Poland. Two kinds diagnostic strategies of on board diagnostics systems, confirmed symptom and statistical processing data, we presented. Paper also describes the method of acting verification of OBD II / EOBD system according to United States Federal FTP75 driving cycle and the New European Driving Cycle on chassis dynamometer stand with simultaneously simulation of malfunction reliable for emission decrease components. Article takes notice of a threat follows from predictability type approval cycle and in connection with that the American In-Use Monitor Performance Ratio (IUMPR) was presented and the modified Polish equivalent ratio was proposed.

Artykuł prezentuje metodykę weryfikacji poprawności działania systemów diagnostyki pokładowej OBDII / EOBD z uwagi na badania na hamowni podwoziowej i w rzeczywistych warunkach eksploatacji Polsce. Zaprezentowano dwa rodzaje strategii decyzyjnych pokładowych systemów diagnostycznych: strategię potwierdzonego symptomu i strategię wykorzystującą obróbkę statystyczną danych. Opisano również sposób weryfikacji działania systemu OBDII / EOBD według amerykańskiego testu jezdnego oraz europejskiego cyklu jezdnego na hamowni podwoziowej przy jednoczesnym symulowaniu usterek elementów odpowiedzialnych ; ograniczenie emisji substancji toksycznych. Zwrócono uwagę na zagrożenia wynikające z przewidywalnoś cyklu homologacyjnego i przytoczono, w związku z tym, amerykański wskaźnik efektywności eksploatacyjni IUMPR oraz zaproponowano jej zmodyfikowany Polski odpowiednik.

The article describes results of chassis dynamometer as well road researches for systems of on board diagnotstics (OBD) Test results of vehicles on chassis dynamometer in temperature of+22 graduate C, -7graduate C and -17 graduate C as well road tests are presented. Test results of chassis dynamometer and road were compared. Tested monitors were evalualed. There was proposed t 0,9 time as a measure of the OBD system efficiency.

Artykuł opisuje wyniki badań na hamowni podwoziowej oraz wyniki badań drogowych w odniesieniu do systcimtw diagnostyki pokładowej (OBD) samochodów. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań rejestracji chwil realizacji monitorów diagnostycznych pojazdów na hamowni podwoziowej w temperaturach dodatnie i +22 stopni C oraz dwu ujemnych -7 stopni C i -2 stopni C, a takiż wyniki badań drogowych w odniesieniu do wybranych pojazdów samochodowych. Zaproponowano czas t 0,9, jako miarę efektywności działania systemu OBD.
