Methods of the synthesis and properties of hydrogen peroxide as well as methods of its activation: by peracids, and catalytic activation by metal compounds are descrobed. The application of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant in different processe i.e. oxidation of olefins, hydroxylation of aromatic and aliphatic compounds, oxidation of alcohols, carbonyl compounds, nitrogen and sulphur containing molecules and additionaly the use of hydrogen peroxide in the halogenation of organic compounds are also characterised. Moreover the enzymatic reactions with hydrogen peroxide, are described.
