The article includes a theoretical and laboratory analysis of moisture flow in drying layered porous media. The lab-results concern the investigations of kinetics and velocity of drying for the specimens of two layers situated in the vertical and horizontal configuration.

The article presents general procedure leading to local evaluation of destruction in the monument. It should be noted that this assessment includes not comparable processes, therefore, the author proposed the separation of partial assessments on condition of construction (walls, roof truss) and of the destruction assessment of the monument decor. In practice, it is assumed that each of the unfavorable partial requires conservator intervention.

Podano schemat metod badawczych stosowanych do oceny stopnia zniszczenia materiałów kamiennych, będących budulcem obiektów zabytkowych. Badania takie przeprowadza się w celu określenia metod konserwacji obiektów oraz ewentualnego zminimalizowania udziału czynników niszczących. Podano zasady opróbowania oraz zalecane analizy laboratoryjne.

A scheme of research methods for evaluation of stone elements damage was presented. The problem concerns historical monuments in case of conservation. The examination is performed to determine the conservation methods and to reduce the impact of stone-damage sources. The principles of sampling and recommended laboratory analysis were given.
