In this paper, we examine the problems of simulating modeling of urban transport route network operation and development of an information system for automating the process of modeling and processing of simulation results with SIMUL8 software. In order to solve this problem, it is required to solve the following set of related tasks: formal description of the urban transport systems structure and parameters of its functioning, development of mathematical models of urban transport network performance, database structure and an algorithm for simulation model creation.

Transport ze względu na swój złożony charakter często opisywany jest w ujęciu systemowym. W artykule przedstawiono szeroki przegląd literatury krajowej na temat definiowania i specyfiki systemów transportowych. W obszarze miejskim oddziaływanie pomiędzy poszczególnymi elementami systemu transportowego warunkowane jest głównie strukturą i wielkością potoków ruchu przemieszczających się w sieci transportowej. Nawet drobne zdarzenia mające miejsce w sieci drogowej mogą wywoływać zakłócenia, będące przyczyną zmian w strukturze ruchu całego miasta. Wiąże się to głównie ze sposobem oddziaływania na procesy decyzyjne użytkowników systemu transportowego związane ze sposobem realizacji przemieszczeń. W artykule przedstawiono zapis formalny modelu miejskiej sieci transportowej, w którym uwzględniono określone modyfikacje grafu odwzorowującego jego strukturę. W tym celu wykorzystano teorię grafów. Taki model, po odpowiedniej rozbudowie, pomoże w sposób precyzyjny i kompleksowy badać oddziaływanie zakłóceń występujących w sieci drogowej zarówno na inne elementy tej sieci, jak i na pozostałe podsystemy transportowe funkcjonujące w mieście.

Transport–due to its complex nature–is often described in terms of the system theory. The article presents a broad overview of the national literature on defining and specificity of transportation systems. In the urban area the interaction between various elements of the transportation system is mainly conditioned by the structure and size of traffic flows moving in the transportation network. Even minor events that occur in the road network may induce traffic disruptions, which cause changes in the structure of traffic in the whole city. This is mainly due to influence on the decision making process of the transportation system users in terms of the way of travelling. A formal description of the model of urban transportation network for the analysis of traffic disruptions has been presented in the article. It takes into account certain modifications of the graph that maps the structure of the transportation network. For this purpose the theory of graphs has been applied. Such a model–after appropriate extensions–will help to study the impact of disruptions in the road network in a precise and comprehensive way.
