The essentials of weapon based on depleted uranium (DU) have been described in the article. The risk of DU use in the battlefield is discussed and the examples of positive and negative opinions concerning DU are enclosed. The absolute statement about the carcinogenic action is rejected due to the lack of sufficient statistical information. However, it is concluded that DU weapon is dangerous for human organisms because of its radioactivity, therefore one should be very careful during operations with DU missiles.
